It usually makes sense to actually expand the strongest suit of a given system precisely to maximise its competitive advantage and differentiating selling point.
Re explo i don’t know about you but i think that new planetary tech looks gorgeous!Yes, it would make sense to expand the strongest suit by implementing a refined atmospheric flight model, expand on things to find instead of the current stupid minigame, and finally build upon the excellent spaceship experience of the game. Surely you wouldn't add FPS...
Well know you know. 9 years now for me.Have to say I never realised Elite Dangerous was such a popular game with agoraphobics.
New features either earn you a fortune (mining changes) or are utter grind fests (material gathering)You spelled 'peanuts' wrong.
sounds like they have no clue how to implement what they want, and it is nowhere close to being done. Not sure this launches 2021.
Makes you wonder what that 100+ team has been doing for the last 18-24 months.
I see you and raise you 100 people plus 18 months work... to do this?
working on other games. lolMakes you wonder what that 100+ team has been doing for the last 18-24 months.
I want a space Sim more Battlefield than Fortnight. Interiors and see my foot touch the ground. 2022 we can take our helmets off.Yes, it would make sense to expand the strongest suit by implementing a refined atmospheric flight model, expand on things to find instead of the current stupid minigame, and finally build upon the excellent spaceship experience of the game. As for first person... gimme!
Shame for VR tho... I guess we can’t have it all...

I disagree, the new planetary tech we saw today actually expands one of Elite s strongest suits and main selling/differentiating points which is (imo) the 1:1 galaxy, science based stellar forge related exploration elements. The fact it has been shown as the first dev diary further reinforces the point. My point was that FDev has done the opposite what you said - instead of building on what made this game special, the ships, the flight and the sights most effort has been sunk into... a thin layer of FPS.
UNLIKE
J/k. We've been around here awhile and I'd like to think we're good enough forum friends to disagree amicably.![]()
From fdev CMs in private chat today, apparently. See chat inRefuted where? Any linkies?

this wont be out in 2021...and if it is, it will be bare bones basic.Let's be real here....we're going to turn our head and it'll already be September. This release could be at the very end of Spring 2021, and I still question what we'll truly get at its launch.
How can any company - regardless of how many folks are involved - think that they can finalize and polish multiple experiences that they're still not certain on the functionality of?
And they always forget to add the gameplay to the game also.We have a really good 1:1 empty "sandbox" toplaytake screenshots. Exploration is based on screenshots.
OH!, sure you mean pressing 1 button for 100 hours, THATS GAMEPLAY!.![]()

i really doubt all the planning, coordination and actual execution of DW2 for example was simply “screenshots”. Those are just a nice by product of the actual exploration gameplay.
Me.Who's the we? You and?
