Power Play Rank 5 Is it worth it?

Hi all, ive not long started with the powerplay but im wondering it it worth the grind to rank 5? If so what are the benefits?

From a pure financial standpoint there is not a benefit. The 50 million credit salary makes up for all the time you spend powerplaying that you could be spending making money. Much like powerplay in general there aren't real benefits, only features that enhance the game experience... Nothing that would give you an advantage.

thanks. I cant really see the financial gain as youd proably spend that on re 5000 merits. What is the 100% increase to influence reward? Also is do you get the prismatic shield at level 5? If so is it any good?

Unless you pledge to a combat benefit power. Then you can make way more money in the long run. But you have to first get rank 5, then have a ship capable of running lots of cargo for fortification.

This, except I farm merits from undermining, once done you can make a fortune in RES or CZ with your 100% bounty bonus :)

don't get it. bounty bonus is not dependent on how you earn your merits, but on the power you pledge. also, i'd say max bonus is 50% (if that power ranks 1st)

am i wrong?

What benefit is there for forification? Does this provide more merits / money than other power play tasks?

Its just the shortest amount of time possible to achieve the merits you need for the week. You would use the 50 million to fast track all your merits for the week and then spend the rest of the week making fat profits.

Rank 5 gives bonus regardless of how you get it, but undermining is more fun and easier for me. Rank 5 gives 100% bounty bonus regardless of Power's ranking :)

i got to rank 5 in 3 days and for 50 mil its well worth it even in a tradeconda u cant make that much in the same time it took me to get to rank 5, yes you have ot wait for you pay but its still good easy money

This is my thought as well. I enjoy Powerplay, many people don't. I am definitely not involved for the grind. The moment something is just a grind move on.

Thanks, i got the 2200 merits in a few hours without pushing it. Its a shame i didnt keep pushing as im guessing my merits will drop to ~ 1100 tomorrow

With the recent increase in merits from combat, it's more easily achievable too. The initial grind to 10,000 is, well, a bit grindy.. but after the first week, less so :)

I disagree with this personally, seeing as you can get to rank 5 without spending a penny (apart from fuel/ammo/repairs which are smaller than the reward of handing in kills) and you can make 50 mil in a week, and then it gets easier to maintain, so you don't need to earn the 10K merits each week.
