Power Play Rank 5 Is it worth it?

Set aside one week for undermining(preferrably after reset).
1 Prop head up somewhere, and grind away. Once you hit 10000 (or come close and fast track the rest), you can sorta take a break to recover from the interdiction tedium. ( i managed to undermine 7k merits and fast tracked the rest )

2 Just park your biggest cargo holder in station and collect faction cargo whenever you get a moment at your pc(min half hour). If you have a deficit before the next reset, fast track to 10000.Collect 50 mil (unless it's your first week as rank 5).

3 Repeat step 2 until ready for active play again (i'm waiting for patch)

If I am working or doing something else, I can still make a lot of cash for not a lot of time invested in game. I'm kinda putzing around until patch but I'm around 230 million credits richer then i was before pp.

Still I'd prefer if they removed decay and lowered weekly to 5mil for rank 5. Whoever sticks around in a power deserves to be top rank.

I think of it as a delayed paycheck. each full hold of faction cargo is @ 4,500,000 (tradaconda) credits for a one way trip.

I initially didn't really bother with power play since it seemed like a huge grindfest, but opted in after 4 weeks when the early adopters got the first faction modules in their hands and started putting videos on youtube about the quite cool Imperial Hammer, the very powerful Prismatic Shields and Advanced Plasma. I wanted those aswell so I pledged. Didn't play much, only achieved Rating 3 to get the Hammers. Last week I pledged to get the shields and thought I would grind to Rating 5. Since the change it is actually really easy! Undermining is the best merit/hr for me, also tried opposing in a military strike for some time, but that only netted me 400 merits/hr and I got overwhelmed by vipers and vultures now and then needing to go back to a station for repairs. Undermining in Clipper have payed 1300 merits/hour. I started interdicting in my heavy huge Anaconda, but that only gave 800 merits/hr with the slow turn speed. Also quite often the third ship in a wing (usually a sidewinder) got away since I could catch up to it. Never in the Clipper :)

I made 10600 merits in total in three easy days. The last push to make 3400 merits actually only took 150 minutes. Plan is to make this weeks 4700 merits tomorrow, hope I can make it in 3 hours!

Do you get merits for underming and killing NPC's?
