For those constantly complaining about the topic being repeatedly asked, consider this:
The subject keeps coming up for Open Only Powerplay because FDEV floated the idea but never actually made an announcement on their decision. Until the subject is definitely closed, either for Open only Powerplay or against, the topic will never stop being brought forward.
So the one thing that both the Open only crowd and the status-quo crowd can agree on is that a definitive answer is needed from FDEV on if Open Only Powerplay will happen or not. Then and only then will the topic be put to rest.
TL;DR: Whether you want or are against this topic, ask FDEV to put this to bed with an answer

You think if FD came out and said they had decided no on OOPP that it would stop these topics?
We had these topics before FD even floated the idea and we would still have them even if FD said "No, never ever will we do that". The proponents will simply say "If we keep making it known we want it we can push FD to do it".

imo they have already said that much in frontierese: their hiding behind silence is not new and again pretty eloquent. i'm not sure they are actually interested in stopping any of these topics. confusion seems to suit them.
It would significantly reduce the number of topics. Not sure why you don't even want an answer on this subject though. Wouldn't you want FDEV to make a decision and stick to it? Why would any player want uncertainty on this subject?

The people advocating Open Only Power Play seem to be arguing for a backstop deal from FDev irrespective of the fact that most players of ED are casual players and wish to keep PP as it is. The evidence being that FDev has shown no intent to act upon the idea. FDev has all the stats of its player base behaviours to decide upon this issue. Just as for the issues of combat logging and bots, there is not enough of it to justify taking action.

Optimist! It won't change the discussion at all really. Jockey has his wall of information based on FD comments and people still banged on about things that FD have responded on.
Nothing wrong with people asking for stuff at all. However, a rather vocal minority have been asking for this time and time again, and from what we see, FD have no plans to implement... yet. So basically its all just urinating into the wind at the moment.
And yes, it would be good if FD would say one way or the other, but its possible they still haven't made a final decision, its still on the maybe pile. In which case, all they could say is "No decision yet", which wouldn't change anything compared to what we have now.
Oh, another optimist. A yes will just result in a thousand threads from salty people who don't want it trying to convince FD not to do it. A no will result in a thousand threads from salty OOPP people saying how FD are bad devs and how they are quitting the game (again) and how they can't wait for Star Citizen to release or whatever the flavour of the month is. And if they say they haven't made a final decision, then the status quo will continue.
And at no point did i say i didn't want an answer. I'd like an answer as well, i just don't think it will change anything around here.
