Patch Notes Update Powerplay Update 1.3.03 Incoming

FIVE days, FOUR updates. Multiple server downtime. Slow downloads.

Come on FD - this is beyond a joke. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE beta-test properly before the next major update.

So I was rushing to be back in inhabited space before the end of the weekend, but that means FD's really cool effort to convert the legacy exploration data to the new format will be for nothing.
Or will I be doing FD a favour by reducing the conversion workload?

EDIT: I do realise I am just one of many players here :)

It looks like your cache hasn't updated - it can take up to 30 minutes, but should have updated by now if you've been connected since the update went live.

If you're up for an experiment then try the following:

Close the game and browse to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\
Then delete these files: GalacticPoliticsPowerBases.cache & GalacticPoliticsPowers.cache

Start the game and see if the cvalues have changed.

Michael, should the cached PP data update every 30 minutes?

I ask because the timestamp I have had on the PP data all evening is 1430 today (ED UTC timezone, I assume) and none of the value changed in an evening's play. Assuming the galaxy was not completely static, I would expect to see developments.

I moved aside the above cache files and apparently identical data (same timestamps and file sizes, don't have an md5sum tool on Windows to check exactly) was retrieved, and the ingame timestamp stayed at 1430. This looks to me like the PP server is serving the same data for hours on end.

Overheads are the cost of controlling systems - it increases the more systems that a power controls.

Michael

You know, I get this and I like it. But why weren't we told beforehand about this during Beta or release AND why don't we have the tools to actually Lead better?

This sort of mechanic would go hand in hand with some sort of leadership tools in-game. Hivemind-blob mentalities will practically ruin the potential fun of Power Play.

Agreed, they have put a system in place to stop any one power from being able to control all/the majority of occupied space. But, and I know we don't know the exact mechanics yet, it would seem that overheads are somehow based on number of systems a power controls, yet we have no way what so ever to stop our power from over-expanding and succumbing to whatever the penalties will be. Not unless we can contact every single (well at least most) real player(s) in our own powers and properly co-ordinate. And it will also mean that all the work we've been doing so far could have negative affects on our powers as this value is currently hidden and we cant see how our decisions will have repurcussions.

Dont know if its just me but VR has gone backwards with this patch. Last patch, everything looked so good and now back to motion blur and black smearing everywhere. Are you sure the patch was just for the servers?

Hi everyone,

Powerplay update 1.3.03 is incoming at 2.30 pm (BST). The client update contains a single fix to address mission related adjudication server error.

It also contains the following server changes:

- Updated the CC balances displayed for each power (Note that this includes the overhead for number of systems that are controlled or exploited by that power - this is being added in a client update next week)
- Significant performance improvement to the exploration servers

For those Commanders with a lot of unsold exploration scans from before the release of 1.3, we've started to upgrade the older data to make them as quick to sell as more recent scans. This is a background process, so whilst we have added more server capacity, it will likely take most of the weekend to complete.

Thanks

Michael

High intensity RES full of rubbish pirates, Crime Sweeps missing for Lavigny-Duval. Fix please?

Combat Bonds at crime sweeps don't work, get message on hud but nothing in list on left pane or at a station.

Tried various systems.

Anaconda/Python kills don't give bond message.

Is this a known bug?

(and do we get the bonds owed in next patch?)

Piling on here as well, please make sure the stuttering is priority #1 as this seriously ruins the experience.

You must be kidding - or talking about an ordinary cheapo joystick. Once you get your hands on a HOTAS combo like the X-52 Pro, you'll never want anything else for ED.

Agreed... I couldn't play ed without my x52pro.. the 1984 version was IMPOSSIBLE to dock without a joystick... and back then the technology for joysticks was lousy to say the least (always drifting out of calibration), I went through quite a few joysticks playing elite.

All looks good now though. They cost a bit more but at least they do the job intended.

Edit: Sorry about double post. Unintended.

Please fix wing trade claims; ever since the 1.3 update, I'm only seeing them about a quarter of the time, and once it took nearly 20 minutes after the sale was made for it to show up in my inbox. A sale made while I was docked at the station where the sale was made. Didn't show up until after I came out of hyperspace 60 light-years further down the trade route.
