Prediction Thread for Possible Polar DLC

A new update is coming in 6 days! However, one line at the end made something very apparent:
There might be another surprise in store for you as well, so do keep an eye out for any exciting announcements soon.
Yep, we're probably getting Polar DLC! With that, I'm gonna make a prediction list of just what animals could be added to Planet Zoo. I'll be using Jurassic World Evolution as a basis, and the animals will be ordered from most to least likely.
1. Polar bear (Edit: confirmed!)

2. Emperor penguin (Edit: wrong continent)

3. Barren-ground caribou (Edit: awkward ranking for the caribou now...)

4. Muskox (Edit: not in)

5. Arctic Fox (Edit: not in)

What are your predictions?

It will come with the update, and I guess it will be free, just like the first few updates for Planco.

Nice & desirable list! :)
Not all of the entries are likely, though.
  • The polar bear and the caribou (and the fox, if not too small) are very possible.
  • Penguines would be awesome, are frequently requested - but still need a dedicated diving AI & animation. Their introduction might be postponed until a specialized "aquatic animals DLC".
  • And as much as I would love the Muskox to be added (I requested it in my own "Goats & Sheep" whishlist), it migth not make it into the game. PZ's fur shader seems to have an issue with long hair. The orangutan already got his hair cut. And while the devs apparently are willing to flex the animals' appearance to what can be done with the Cobra engine, the Muskox' long, scraggy hair is SUCH a defining feature that implementing one without it might be a too far stretch.

What I'm hoping for (in order of preference/desire): Polar bear, arctic fox, wolverine, pinniped of some sort, penguin, caribou or reindeer.

I'm guessing I'll have to wait for a penguin or seal... But I'm really hoping we get those first three at some point! And it looks like at least one of mine will be coming...

Something interesting came up on the Planet Zoo socials...

So. Reindeer are effectively confirmed, I guess?

I'm into whatever new content we're going to get at this point. But I really hope there's more than one additional animal. Mostly because there are so many ungulates and I kinda find those exhibits to be the least satisfying to build...

But still. At least it's something!

As excited as i am about new animals, I'm going to be a little annoyed if there's a paid DLC only 6 weeks after release. Looks like the Planet coasters DLC were spaced out to about every three months.

Wait a minute. The deluxe edition animals was updated a day ago? Will we get more deluxe animals???

I think they might have done some work on the models. No new ones.

I think Planet Zoo will head the same way. And just like Planco's first Winter update, this one is free.
The first paid DLC('s) for Planco came 9 months after release, all updates and new content was free untill that point.
And these paid DLC's where only add-ons for the go-karts, while we still received free updates with rides and scenery.

EDIT: It's a paid one, so I was wrong.
I'm not to upset about it, but did expect it to be free.

I’m pleased with the lineup although personally I’d have added a wolverine or Arctic fox rather than the Arctic wolf, especially as we already have a wolf.

Yeah, I mean, at the end of the day, I can't deny that I will likely pick it up almost as soon as it's out, and I've got the privilege be able to do that without any hardship. As Geekism pointed out in his video, too, $10 is pretty reasonable compared to other games like The Sims, which priced their DLC basically as a new game. I just feel like I'm not ready for more content yet, I'm still haven't gotten to a good stopping place in my current zoo! (The pricing also makes the deluxe edition feel very expensive in comparison)

On the other hand, I also get the business need to keep new material available, and the desire to get a winter update out for the holidays. Maybe the DLC was always planned for this date, but the actual game release was delayed making the release date difference closer than anyone really wanted, but they can't delay the winter DLC any farther because otherwise it starts to get...awkward.
