At my current rate of progress I don't feel particularly confident that I will have managed to take out the Anaconda in the first missions before the first Beta is ready. I did take a step back and just about managed to complete the first mission with flight assist off the other day. What I have learned so far is that when the final game reaches us, I will not be looking for fights and I will be flying in as assisted a manner as is allowed.

It might have.

But now you've gone and blown it wide open.

Yeah, but my patience has gone of vacation lately!

I don't know if anyone have noticed though.

Double crap!

I forgot I need to make a new one!

It's suppose to be GALACTIC MAP to avoid confusion!

Sorry sorry sorry...I just prolonged the wait another week! :(

Bought the Premium Beta yesterday and I'm impressed with the combat tutorials.

It all came flooding back when I got wasted by the group of fighters as to how merciless the elite games were (and to how rusty I've become).

With a bit of perseverance I've managed to complete all but the second last mission where you take on various different single ships and fighter waves. Is it complete able ? Or do you just keep going until it's time to swap out the ship for a pine box lol ?

Must admit I'm really enjoying it and can't wait for the 30th of May to come round.

*takes hat off to all the alpha testers and the devs at Frontier* :D

It is beatable. There are nine waves I believe. I don't know for sure as I've not got past wave 7 :)

Ah that's good then, plenty of practise to get in before the 30th then rofl.

Thanks mahoon, intrigue got the better of me. There are 10 waves it would appear, big end boss is wave 10. I'm the same as you can't get past wave 7  We'll get there with plenty of practise :D

10 Waves?? I've only made it to number 6 though I have been away for 2 weeks ... but 10 waves seriously!?!? Damn you Elite and Praise you at the same time.

Hi all,

10 waves... good to know, I'm also on waves 7 :)

Lets challenge, who will be the first to finish it... (even if I know that certainly a lot of people still did it  )

You will do it.

Below some hints if you want them

Beating wave 7 to 9 the easiest way has something to do with flying straight backwards while shooting them. That's a bit cowardish but you can actually learn something for later when you will try to do it without this evil tactic ;)
Watch the speed differences, look for different weapon loadouts on the NPC and their ranges, play around with energy distribution. But you will NOT learn anything about dogfighting and gunnery.
It will bring you to wave 9 where this tactic alone won't help you much.
Try it anyway...and learn the differences of the enemies to plan further, better tactics.

yesterday i did the whole thing the first time without any "reversing" at all..and it felt great. :D

im actually stuck on the one where you have to evade the cobra and take out the fed fighters (cant remember the name)... the cobra sees me every time even when running silent/cold from the second the scenario starts. any tips?

I cannot do it running cold, but its easy if you take out the Cobra first then the other ships

- only deploy hardpoints when ready to shoot and retract them after every kill
- turn off the shield generator in systems configuration (you obviously don't need it)
- do NOT go out of silentmode untill the mission is finished

if you want and have the patience, you can
- sit still
- go to silent mode as soon as scenario begins
- turn off shields and engine power in system configuration
let the heat slowly drop to zero. then turn energy power back on.this will give you a good start without using a heatsink.

Stupid question regarding the Premium Beta…

When the final game is released, do we get a boxed version? I rather cherished my old boxed version of Frontier, with the oul' galaxy map, and would love to have the boxy version of the game.

If you got your Premium Beta through kickstarter then yes. If just off the store then I'd say no.
