Press F For Mining

This. I just mined 70 tons in 36 minutes (looked up the numbers after posting in the other thread), over 30 of that came from one LTD subsurface asteroid.

It's been nerfed, just not enough

That rate will not fill my hold within 2 hours which is average game play where you can sit comfortably without getting up. At the rate I mine in a T9 it wont even be close.

They need to balance this for miners to have fun, spend some time but not too much time, load up and leave within 1 game play period. People who play excessively will always take things to excess and don't have real lives most likely.

Or S if you prefer.

I really really enjoyed mining 100x more than before the patch NOT BECAUSE OF THE MONEY but because of the time spending mining itself. Abrasion, core, and sub surface were pretty much useless in all regards before this patch. It wasn't worth the effort because the time spent didn't yield anything worthwhile compared to surface mining.

So before it was still fun but we'd be stuck hopping from rock to rock mind numbingly holding the trigger while hopefully having some bantz with the guys in Borann. Thank god for chat or mining would be EOL.

So adding a LOT of flecks coming out of SSD's inadvertently made the game more run. It introduced a new mechanic of actually searching for good stuff, and spending A LOT OF TIME ON ONE ROCK. I could spend time searching, find a nice rock, spend time preparing to extract all of its goodness out of it using all means necessary. I really enjoyed making mining more interactive and profitable.

The solution was not to reduce the yield and sparsity of the profit. The solution was to reduce the rewards and prices slightly or the yield.

Keep the number of SSD's high, reduce the % yield per fleck or the overall price per LTD.

Make the markets actually respond to supply and demand. With all the LTD's out there.. the price should be dropping significantly.

I should be able to come home from work, spend 2 hours mining and fill my hold travel and sell. I'm not like some of the insane people calculating profits per hour. I'm a casual player who just wants to have fun like most of the RECORD BREAKING people who showed up to play, made videos reviews about how awesome this patch was.

So I saw this nerf as the ultimate insult. They just made the game the most popular thing since sliced bread and they had to nerf it somehow and disappointing a lot of people. So they better come up with a really good compromise!

They didn't.
I like how we can basically use all three kinds of mining now.
I disagree on the rest.

Based on what you’ve said, I’ve wracked my brain to see if I can come up with a way in which you can tackle the expressed issue. And I think I’ve got it...

Use a smaller ship.

It’ll be more manouverable, so if you want to try, and can fly well enough, you’ll be able to mine quicker. (Which might be more fun or might not, depends on you!)

And you’ll be able to fill your hold within your allocated play time!

There we go, all sorted! 😉

I'll give it a go tonight and see how bad it is.
I'm in the "Borann 2" triple right now. This is some of the most enjoyable mining I've ever done. Mineral levels are NOT up to the eyeballs, there's plenty to laser, and finding subsurface deposits is quite fun. I am certainly NOT getting the yields that were being gotten before the patch (THANKS, FDevs!*) but steadily filling my T9's hold with diligent work. This is how I imagine mining should be.
*As usual, I arrived at the moneymaking hotspot just as the Devs nerf it. LOL nothing against the Devs at all; I'm just annoyed I got there too late.
IMO, this is perfect if you like mining as a relaxing activity that makes scads of money. It's not easy, the credits don't actually jump joyfully into your bank account, but with a bit of work and pleasurable flying, you get a LOT of money very fast. :)
Cheers!

I want a big honking load of goods to haul. I don't want a smaller ship .. = smaller profits
Fair enough but that ain’t what you said. What you were asking for was fun and to be able to fill your hold etc. in the time you had available.

Both of which are things it’s completely within your power to achieve.

Don't exist anymore, apparently. It doesn't matter how much of a commodity to drop on a system, they keep wanting more, more, MORE of the stuff, leading to the silliness we have now.

It's either that or have ten times the bleating and whining about solo players "affecting the BGS" than we have now.

I just pulled 47 tons of LTDs from one rock (with 2 subsurface deposits), in a random single LTD hotspot (took about 10 minutes to locate the rock).

Hardly nerfed...I think the people who are complaining about this nerf haven't actually gone out and tried mining. It's still ridiculous how much you get out of these deposits.
Wow, so it's actually gone up. Before today's patch I pulled only 38 tons of LTDs from one rock with 2 subsurface deposits in a single LTD hotspot.

:p

So what happens if you'll only manage to 3/4 of your hold in one session? Would that be an absolute disaster, or would it still be profitable and time well spent?

I really can't see why whether or not you can fill the hold completely of one of the absolutely biggest transport ships in the game in a two hour period or not is ruining your experience.

It needed to be nerfed. Being able to mine LTD's prehaps the most valuable single resource in the game at such a fast rate, the same rate I could mine a common resource was not balanced at all. I was doing 850 million credit runs in 2 hours or less.

I know there are a lot of pessimist here but I do hope one day ED has a economy with an actual "early game", "Middle Game,' and "Late Game:" for different types of ships and pilot skill instead of the current 'Everyone does the same thing, people in better ships just do it faster/efficient." New gameplay becoming accessible as you progress.
