Community Event / Creation Printable Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS reference sheet

Here is my latest for Gamma:

EDIT: Works in Gamma
(Based on mhughes2k's approach, see above)

My Tflight hotas x arrived yesterday and I loaded up the demo to try out this keymapping, and I think I will use this when the game comes on the 16th.

But I did notice that Silent Running was not working when I pressed the combat modifier and the secondary fire button. So I had to go into the controls and remap the binding, it was empty, and now it works.

As I was learning how to fly with the Hotas I decided to invert the axis of the Thrusters on the throttle back paddle from the way you have it. Just because it was easier for me to pull back on the stick and push the paddle to the right for tighter turns.

And the last unmapped key to the Target Ahead button with the flight modifier is good for optional ship accessories like Chaff or Shield Cell if your using it.

Throttle

Hi.

Here's a noon question for you.
I purchased the Elite Dangerous Mercenary edition the other day, and I have a HIOTA-X on order.

Could you tell me how you configured your throttle axis please?
Is it set to zero throttle with the lever in the middle, or zero with the lever to the bottom?

I dread to think the last time I played the original Elite.
Now there's going back a bit :)

Cheers.

Hi Commanders,

I made for myself an advanced complete bind setups for controllers, that I use for playing Elite: Dangerous.

My setups are for ...
1. Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X
2. Microsoft XBOX 360 Controller
3. Keyboard and Mouse (5 buttons)

Why I made more than one setup?
Reason is very simple. Not every time I need to put my Joystick on the desk, especially when I go trade or explore only.

After a lot of changes and tests I want to share with you my (probably) final version.

What do I need and expect from a good setup?
My goals were to make complete, logical, ergonomical and comfortable setups.
I want to be able to use one controller for all possible ship functions, without thinking too long about what button does what.
I want to minimize accidents from unwanted key usage (with modifiers), especially during combats.
I want to have printable reference sheet, where I find all information about mapping.
I want to - after a longer game trip - put my legs on sofa and fly with only one hand on controller and the second hand on keyboard to make comfort for me (relax possition :)).
I want to be able to control ED after landing on station from keyboard too, without any compromise (still near to default control settings).

I did it all :).
But remember, there is not only a one way to make a good bind setup. Everything is about your expectations and wishes.
Anyway, You must always learn basic controller mapping and after few game hours you can make your own changes, if they are necessary.

How can you find logic in my setups?
There are some examples for Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X.
Example 1: Landing gear you retract with same button like for vertical thrust, which you use for take off from landing pad. Simply push used "Shift 1" button and fly.
Example 2: You jump to SuperCruise with the same "Shift 1" + key like for boost Engine ... Of course, to HyperSpace you jump with same button too, but with "Shift 2".
Easy like cake ;).
Example 3: Primary fire is on "Joy 1" button, "Shift 1+Joy 1" is button for Chaffs (Combat situation) and "Shift 2+Joy 1" Retract your Hardpoints (Non Combat situation).

Look at Reference sheets. Pictures makes better job than 1000 words ;).

Instalation:
1. Unpack archive with 7-zip.
2. Copy selected bind file to directory "c:\Users\<User name>\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings\".
3. Choose selected controller setup from "Options > Controls" menu and click to Apply.
4. Enjoy!

You put the throttle axis on "Full" and zero throttle becomes neutral or the middle of the throttle. When you pull back its reverse and forward is straight ahead.

Great! Thanks for this. Do you have, by any chance, the 'empty' pictures of those layouts? I have a few keys I'd like to change, so it would be nice to have the empty layouts. If not, I'll Google them. np. :)

Really good thread and after an hour of changing bindings last night and confusing myself completely I think I'll just use your setup. It looks really intuitive (flight, combat, etc.) and it comes with a printable reference sheet I can sellotape to my head for the next week. Thanks.

Edit: Some rep.

Thank you verymuch, I have been struggling with how to map my hotas X and this came in very handy! Just need to know if I make my bindings on the combat training menu will they transfer to fullgame once it launches so I can just get flying right away without spending an hour in binding my keys?

Nice job! Stumbled on this game like a week ago and already I've pre-purchaced the game and my T Flight just arrived yesterday. Seems like Smacker is the way to go.

Hmm, I wonder if the Frontier dev-team would add in somekind of custom info upon selecting the various control modes like "Controls arranged for Combat". At least some visual/aural feedback would be nice when switching between the controls.

Oh yeah and since this is my first post, Hi everyone

Awesome mate cheers.
My mate bought a Speedlink Black Widow, which he bought up today for me to try.
With that one I could never tell where centre (neutral) throttle was.
And then 30 minutes later my HOTAS arrived :) He was still here at the time.
Anyway, thanks for letting me know!
