Problems with Mods?

So can we talk about specific mods, like what species of animals we have modded into the game or what animals modders are currently making?
As Swjosdotschka has mentioned as long as no one mentions the modders names (seen as promoting) or post links or images. It would have to be in general terms.

Nexus mods might have a forum where you can discuss what animals you want modded as this generally wouldn't be the place to request them since they are not supported by Frontier. You could also probably find a discord that discusses them and/or request one.

I think what caused the crash is perhaps you had the modded animal in storage. It happened to me with the fallow deer where I've deleted the file and forgetting that I had the animal in storage which caused my game to crash (when clicking on storage). I don't think deleting the file before removing the animal crashes the game as I've tested this and it simply removes the animal from the habitat. (I hope I'm remembering this right, I haven't played PZ in about a month).

I haven't really had any serious trouble with mods, the process of adding/removing them is pretty easy so that's neat.
That may well be the reason. It's one I had not put down in the zoo as yet, I was so on the fence about wanting a second lion or not.

Oh I'm not looking to request things, I'm just wondering how deep we can go into discussing mods. Like if I said "there's a nice American black bear mod, but enrichment objects don't animate when the bear uses them" or "the education boards are glitched with most new animal mod" would that be okay? Or too much?

for the new species mods, no-one knows yet, but I guess we will see soon enough.

Yep. I downloaded every non-replacement animal mod that came out prior to the SEA pack, and would probably still be doing that if frontier hadn't added flexicolor so that they broke. I even took the "drastic" step of going outside franchise mode and temporarily playing in sandbox so I could use them.

For me personally, I haven't done anything with mods since the flexicolor break -- totally out of my own laziness. To be clear, I think what the modders is doing is amazing, and also think they did a fantastic job of fixing all of the non-replacement animal mods very quickly after they got broken. So it's not about them at all. I just know that I'll be too lazy to download them all again if frontier changes something else that breaks all of them, And since I'm still holding out hope for a longer than expected support cycle and many future dlcs, it seems likely that eventually they'll do something that breaks them all. So it's about managing my own future disappointment!

For the scenery mods, I'm taking more of a "wait and see" approach. I mostly play for the animals anyway, and feel like these are still a little bit more untested in terms of what types of updates could break them. Plus, I just know that once they're in my inventory, I'll end up forgetting which pieces are mods, and accidentally use one without realizing it.

But all of these are just about my own ability (or inability) to keep track and update things, and fear of losing work. When the updates stop (hopefully a long time from now), I'll definitely be using mods a lot more mods, because I love the things that the modders have been creating!

Well since it is ok to discuss mods I really am blown away with the progress modders have made. I knew from the zt2 days that those involved with that game were extremely talented. As are all involved with PZ. My game is currently mod free but I’m leaning more and more towards mods every day. Kinda holding out till modders figure out sounds and animations which I’m sure they’ll crack in time. Anyway does anyone here have the mammoth pack? This is very impressive especially considering I was against prehistoric animals from the start. I also like the southern white rhino which is actually the zoo tycoon 2013 model. I always felt that games black and white rhinos were the best I’ve seen so It’ll be interesting to see how the leaked white rhino will stack up against the older model. Anyway good job to all modders and keep up the good work.

For me the best and a must have one is the Planet Zoo + mod, which fix sizes and various errors made by Frontier (finally i can use the Bison and the Camel), increases the albino rates and other changes, basically it's the final sandbox experience. I can't wait to put my hand on the modded Africa pack, from what i've seen it's gonna be awesome, with talented people working on it, and i can't hide that i'm more hyped for the modded one instead of the official one.

That would be okay. :)

@Antmar97 The Bison and Camel fix is a godsend, but since this really is a mod that needs to be replaced again with every single update, I really wish we had an official fix by now.

At this point i don't think we will have an official fix, but never say never 🤷‍♂️. I'm just glad this mod exists and i hope it will be updated for the final version of the game.

Frontier said once, they'll never correct the Polar Bear requirements, so.... I didn't lose hope yet :D

The mods are amazing, especially the ones that fix the sizes of the bisons and camels. I did try to use a mod that did that, among other things, but sadly it makes it so i cannot play my zoo in franchise. Alas. Here's to hoping that gets fixed somehow or (even better!) that frontier fixes the sizes etc!
