for the new species mods, no-one knows yet, but I guess we will see soon enough.
Yep. I downloaded every non-replacement animal mod that came out prior to the SEA pack, and would probably still be doing that if frontier hadn't added flexicolor so that they broke. I even took the "drastic" step of going outside franchise mode and temporarily playing in sandbox so I could use them.
For me personally, I haven't done anything with mods since the flexicolor break -- totally out of my own laziness. To be clear, I think what the modders is doing is amazing, and also think they did a fantastic job of fixing all of the non-replacement animal mods very quickly after they got broken. So it's not about them at all. I just know that I'll be too lazy to download them all again if frontier changes something else that breaks all of them, And since I'm still holding out hope for a longer than expected support cycle and many future dlcs, it seems likely that eventually they'll do something that breaks them all. So it's about managing my own future disappointment!
For the scenery mods, I'm taking more of a "wait and see" approach. I mostly play for the animals anyway, and feel like these are still a little bit more untested in terms of what types of updates could break them. Plus, I just know that once they're in my inventory, I'll end up forgetting which pieces are mods, and accidentally use one without realizing it.
But all of these are just about my own ability (or inability) to keep track and update things, and fear of losing work. When the updates stop (hopefully a long time from now), I'll definitely be using mods a lot more mods, because I love the things that the modders have been creating!
