Product Update - Planet Coaster is coming to Steam

Hmmm. I maybe mistaken then.
Maybe Frontier could contact valve and see if there is a way people can lift the limits on Steam accounts after adding a key.
Maybe contacting Steam support (They are pretty bad at replying) they could remove the limits.

Hey! We're aware of this and Steam account limitations. We're looking into all the different possibilities at the moment. Someone in the community team (probably that pesky Brett) will let you know when we have more information.

The main issue would probably be the ability for him to share his own content on the Steam Workshop since a limited account would only be able to download the Steam Workshop content of others.

I'm sure Frontier will work it out with Steam so people will be able to use the Workshop without purchasing other games.

Let's just see what happens with Steam. User Generated Content and sharing blueprints is a critical advertised feature of this game. I can't see Frontier letting Steam limit that just because you have a new account. I'm confident this will be worked out.

If you don't have RCT1, it is currently $5.99 on there. RCT3 Platinum often goes to the $5 area, but is currently $19.99. There are tons of other great games on Steam.

For others worried about having another game launcher, Steam uses barely any resources in the background. There are between 7 million and 11 million players daily logging into Steam and gaming. Steam is a vetted product.

Even if you have limited access to Steam you will still have full access to PC, so no problem!

I know, but that is not the problem at the moment. All i wanted is that Frontier has an eye on certain things.
That is why we are all here. But maybe i am wrong there and everything is nice.

It sometimes is easier said than done regarding financials.

Granted, cities skylines is a really good steam backed game. [mouth shut]

It's not without reason PC is often compared to City Skylines for various reasons.
(and not only because those 2 games are what the "original" games were supposed to be. What Cities is to SimCity, PC is to RCTW) [mouth shut]

I hope the steam workshop is a lot more organized than Cities Skylines. You also have the issue with too many items in the menus without names or pictures.

If the limits could be lifted for those that have problems that would be great. But to be honest this is only going to affect a very small number of Alpha owners.

EA Origin, Uplay, Epic Games launcher, GOG, Steam... I, for one, am glad it's on Steam. One less damn launcher to deal with. =)

Glory be the day if there will be custom asset support at some time in the distant future. =D Not UGC as in someone's building or blueprint - but custom building props. *insert Homer drool pic*

That's correct. They chose to use Steamworks for their sharing features, presumably because it's mature, stable and well-regarded. But unfortunately to play a game with Steamworks integration you need to have a Steam account (and presumably Steam). Personally I don't see the problem in installing Steam for a single game; it's not really any different than having the Frontier Launchpad installed.

I don't want or need to share stuff. I don't want or need another program to launch a game that already has a launcher. I don't own lots of games, and don't need or want Steam installed. If Steam was required from the very beginning, that would be one thing, but to require it to be installed more shouldn't be necessary.

I understand that I bought into an Alpha, and things change, but Steam should not be required if I have no desire to access shared content.

We'll see, I guess. Like I said, I'll be giving the decision some thought.

I think you forgot the pre-orders. But who cares. Everything nice and easy.

Frontier will pick up your suggestion and will find hopefully a free solution to be part of the complete experience.

It's terrible with all these launchers, I always cheer when games show up on Steam. \o/ [yesnod][yesnod][yesnod]

This is great news! Very happy to hear Planet Coaster is coming to Steam. I can't wait to try it on my Steam Link and NVIDIA Shield in a more "official" way.
