Product Update - Planet Coaster is coming to Steam

Hey,
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere...
With the Steam integration being announced - If you have pre-ordered, how are we going to download the game once released? Do we input a key to Steam or download through PlanetCoaster and it somehow merges with Steam?

Thanks in advance [noob]
GEM x

Around August 23rd you will get a Steam key for Planet Coaster to redeem on Steam.

Is there really no way to buy alpha at Steam? Can't you guys release at early acess or something? I have tons of cash on Steam since i keep money for gaming there so i can't really buy games outside of Steam. The fact that i can only pay for the game with my currency (R$) does not help when i have to use the game store from Frontier to buy it. When i payed for Elite Dangerous using the Frontier Store i paid SO MUCH MORE, cash wise, because of the exchange rate, that i regreted paying for alpha when it launched on Steam. With Steam it's convenient because it's all there, it does coin exchange immediately and my money is always there.

TLDR:*I could only buy this alpha using Steam*.

I'm out of the loop, since I'm new here. Do all pre-orders get access to the beta when the game comes out of alpha, or is the game still locked to early-bird level pre-orders only?

If you bought the early-bird you should have access to the alpha, which rolls over to the beta, and then rolls over to the full release.

If you bought the regular pre-order and not the Early Bird, you will have to wait until the full release date to play. To have access before then you would have to have bought or buy either the Early Bird (which can only be acquired up to the 25th of this month) or the pre-order and Early Bird upgrade (which can only be acquired up to the 25th of this month). Hope that clears it up for you.

I think someone from the community managers should make a sticky about this because the same question do happen to appear everywhere on this forum [yesnod]

ATTENTION PLANET EARTH - REGARDING PLANET COASTER

PLANET COASTER WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE ON PLANET STEAM FOR PLANET EARTH UNTIL THE PLANET GETS TO AUGUST 23.

Man... I needed to get that off my chest.

We've not sent an email containing information on how to unlock access for pre-existing customers via Steam key-access.

We've not set a date on when you'll get your steam key, but if anything, it'll be on or shortly before alpha three launches.

Correct me if I'm wrong - I will be getting an email from Frontier, then, regarding the Steam key?

Most probably you will, but we will get updated about how it will work soon :

How will existing customers get access to Planet Coaster on Steam?

All customers who have already purchased or will purchase it in the future will be able to retrieve a Steam Key from the Frontier store. This will be a simple process which we will describe in detail nearer the release of Alpha 3.

You don't necessarily have to buy something you don't want. Steam has a huge library of games (even games under $5) and a variety of general software, creative software, and so much more. Most of which are at fair prices. Not to mention, anything you buy through Steam, you will easily be able to re-install if you change computers or have trouble with your computer. If all you have to do is spend $5, what's the concern? Chances are that Planet Coaster isn't the only thing you will get from Steam.

In this digital high-speed world we live in, more and more companies are releasing their computer software or games through platforms like Steam, Origin, Ubisoft, GOG, etc. For those companies, It saves costs on retail space, packaging and of course shipping, maybe even server-load. I really don't see why this is going to cause a problem.

It's silly to say go buy something else when he wants to buy and play Planet Coaster. There is no real substitute for this Game except RCT3... So to suggest to "just buy something else" doesn't really work in my Opinion.

EDIT: It's way too early for me... Sorry i completely misread your Post.

Well there is no problem. They already said that the game copy will make a unlocked steam account, no need to spend those 5$. They arranged that with Valve

Just wanna say, that $5 on steam isnt that hard to break if it did exist for activating the CD Key. Just buy a cheap game like Surgeon Simulator to break it lol.

Good thing I have a lot of games on steam already so this isn't as big of a deal , granted even if I didn't, there are steam sales every now & then where you can get games pretty cheap, some even less then $5 if you want to get a deal, heck you could buy a bunch of cheap games to equal $5 total if you look around the site long enough...

2 weeks ;-)

It's a good thing you don't need to spend $5 then isn't it? ;) It comes with the key, Frontier have sorted it.

Just going to reiterate what was previously said: We've waived the 5$ lockout. Once you get your steam key for planet coaster, it should waive that lockout.

Please see the final line in the first post...

EDIT RE $5 limitations - We've spoken with Steam and they were really helpful on this matter. Anybody who already owns Planet Coaster will receive a code that waives the initial $5 account limitation. Basically if you haven't got a Steam account already, the code you receive from us will de-limit new accounts.

Thanks! [big grin]

You really have to mark this part of the post bold and on top of the post. Seems that some people still don't know this fact ;)
