[Proposal] Humble suggestion for supercruise overhaul

1) Black holes are deadly! Litterally! These misteryes of physic should not be forgiven as they are now, but dangerous in approaching more or like flying near a neutron star. Approaching can be an activity for exploration trying to avoid accresciment disk or manage the extreme gravity ang get some sort of new datas.

2) Targets (npcs or celestial bodyes) in supercruise should be less large as they are but half of their actual size. Some player reported that targeting in headlook can be difficult when objects are overlapped. In my opinion these icons should be like they are in FSS.

3) Bad exiting from supercruise should be a massive damage for the ship. Especially when bad exiting is near a planet that can influence ship trajectory by it's gravity. Temporary lose of control or probability of a crash on a planet must be taken seriously making the navigation more interesting.

4) Exiting supercruise approaching a station/outpost/structure should be exactly like approaching a surface starport. A glide manuver (even more 2.5 Km/s) activate at exit making you approach the target.

5) Remove tail effect from npcs when they are in supercruise, and put a less glowing light effect.

6) Asteroids should be like a gas giant disk. Exactly the same but without a texture, just it's border are seen in orbital lines mode and obviously less dense in composition while you flight inside.

7) Auroras

8) Comets

9) Random objects can collide from space (little asteroids or micrometeors)

Hope can help for inspiration!

1) The Ship's AI stops the FSD before the ship gets even remotely close to the black hole's event horizon

2) The scale of objects in the game is 1:1, 1 meter = 1 meter Celestial bodies are actualy as large as you are seeing in the game.

3) Exiting from supercruise does not result in signifigant damage because the FSD shifts the quantum density of the ship. In doing so the ship's internal kenetic momentum is only a few hundred meter's per second even though it was traveling faster than light before hand. The damage comes from the FSD not shutting down properly in the first place causing the Quantum density of the ship to return to at an uneven rate.
The FSD has to shift the quantum density of the ship because normal matter is incapable of traveling faster of light otherwise.

4) See number 3 then continue reading this: Glide manouvers only happen over planets because the FSD expirences quantum friction near astronomical bodies, or more accurately gravity, reducing its efficency to warp space around the ship, therefore it needs to preform a glide maneuver because quantum friction does not let it spool down as efficiently as it does in deep space. Because of this, the FSD has signifigantly reduced efficency and accuracy so it has to drop the ship out of FSD over a longer period to get to a destination as accurately as it would in deep space. Quantum Friction is expirenced near all astronomical bodies due to them displacing space with their mass and gravity such as black holes.

5) The tail and light effects are from the resulting quantum turbulence the FSD creates when it warps space, much like a boat creating waves on the ocean or a lake.

6) if you are talking about solar asteroid belts there are belts in the game but not dense enough to where you would see them flying in supercruise.

7) Agree

8) Agree

9) The quantum density of the ship during supercruise protects the ship from these apperances due to Mass/speed ratio

I shan't bother with the rest, it's all been done many times, I'd just like to point out that the total mass of the siolar systems asteroid belt is less than 10% of our moon, spread out over billions of cubic kilometres of empty space. So one rock every thousand cubic kilometres? Fortunately they aren't evenly spread, they clump up, and these are the regions we can go to in ED, so the current way they are portrayed in ED is probably as close to how they look in reality as we are going to get, so no sorry, no disk!
