PS4 Horizon's Bug

Let me start this by saying I'm a brand new player.

I'm at wits end. I purchased horizons and promptly started a planetary scan mission. I have looked up and followed a guide to land on a planet and use the scarab srv. I have made sure that I Google every aspect of this game that I have trouble with.

However,

I have tried everything that every other forum thread from here AND steam to be able to scan a data point, to no avail.

Nothing works.

Heres what I've done:
Relogged multiple times,
Set the data point scanner to a firing group,
Deactivated and reactivated the scanner module on the srv,
Went to options and made sure that "firing activates hardpoints" is on,
Set, reset, then set again my secondary fire controller bindings.

Nothing works.

Please help a new player from turning away from this game due to this.

I'm guessing from the above that you have no problem in locating the body itself or the target building, so assuming that you're sitting there in front of the data point in your SRV, is the data point showing as active? If not, you will need to get closer, potentially gaining a trespass bounty depending on the circumstances. If you're scanning the data point correctly and are still unable to collect the required data, maybe your data inventory is full?

Yes I'm currently sitting right next to the antenna in turret mode. It tells me it's active but the lettering is greyed out. The videos I've watched for help show the lettering is green. As far as data I've only got three listings to sell. I stay vigilant with selling my data regularly when I'm outside the 20ly limit.

Do you need to be in the srv turret to scan it?

You don't but it's easier generally, I assumed OP you have targeted the beacon and the it's just left trigger L2 to initiate the scan? (Contacts panel or X). You have to be close enough so that it extends to be scanable.

As Stormy says above - you need to target the data point. You can do this easily in your contacts panel, or just look straight ahead and select the target (default X). Otherwise, you may have missed something with your controller bindings.

I believe the second trigger just like the ships second trigger must be configured to work. Once done, push x and then the second trigger. First trigger is for weapons by default.

I had the exact same problem when I first started to play ED, couldn't for the life of me figure out what I was doing wrong for an hour or so. Elite isn't very precise tutorial-wise, you got to figure out many things yourself (which imho is also part of the game's charm). If all else fails, there's always the great forum community ready to help! See you in the black, CMDR.

Any and all beacon on a planet need to be activated first and foremost which one can do by targeting the beacon and unless reconfigured pushing x on a ds4. After which it must be scanned which if one hasn't reconfigured the second trigger on the srv (the first is weapons by default) the second isn't assigned but must be. Just like on your ship. Though mine 2nd trigggers are both configured the same, they don't have to be.

Took me a week and several rebuys to figure out that the srv's 2nd trigger isn't configured to any button. Once I did, the expenses went down dramatically. Now I only get the occasional fines and or H bounties. No more rebuys.
