PSA: Jaques Station Mining Services Are Now Open!

The journey to Jaques is a lot, but it is not hazardous or full of jeopardy or risk or danger. Never has been any of that.

If any CMDR arrives at Jaques will less than 100% hull and 100% modules, then its pure and simple the result of an easily avoidable pilot error.

Good for you! Thats not everyone's experience though, so what's your point? That FD are right to engage Easy Mode, because you think it's easy anyway..?

Umm no he's right. There is literally nothing you can encounter on the way there that will damage you with careful flying.

Yes, including neutron stars. Yes, including binaries. Yes, including getting interdicted by pirates on the way out of the bubble. I ran into all of those, including amongst others jumping into a close binary neutron star system (and if anything is going to screw you that's it) as well as jumping in to discover I was fuel scooping from the star behind me a few times, just as with most longish trips and the only damage I took was 3% hull damage when I landed on a planet without remembering to turn my shield on because I'm an imbecile.

It may well not be everybody's experience but what causes the difference is a lack of attention, in particular not zeroing throttle between jumps.

I couldn't have cared less whether they turned repairs on or not but as someone else said, if you want to roleplay the journey being difficult and fraught with peril fine, just don't repair. Nobody has a gun to your head do they?

After all the "whaa'ing" about this, turns out they would tell us... there's an Galnet article from the forth that pretty much just reiterates what you've said above - specifically that the materials received at that time allowed partial restoration.
Still annoying for those who had other plans, but lore-wise it's supported.

To be fair, it was revisionist; the post went up quite a bit after the changes were made. It has all the hallmarks of the community team not communicating at levels where one hand more or less gathers what the right is doing. Because I cannot shake the impression, that the community team, aren't specifically handling all of the CG mechanics.

Ironic, but there you go. Frontier, bless their socks and Father Braben, do many things well, but communication (both to us, and at times between business units) is not exactly their strong point.

Appreciate the kind encouragement. I am over it. I understand Frontier can't do any better. I've come to accept it. I've come to accept they can't do any better than acting like a completely disorganized amateur company that just so happens to have a novel space game franchise. I have come to accept it and I'm over it. There is still fun to be had here, and I've come to accept that Frontier will continue to frak it up sometimes and other times they'll get it right. I've come to understand they are not steel but copper blades, not sharp and they bend to the will of the whiners who can't organize who can't motivate and who can't find a way to work together to solve the challenges they are presented with. This was to be a legendary CG but now it is just another CG. We are still going to win it. We are still going to be the biggest contributor but we are just not going to be able to mobilize and motivate everybody in the same way.

I knew your name was ringing a bell from somewhere, you're the guy who was telling everybody how you were going to WIN TEH CG!!!1!!1ONE!11!! weren't you?

I never worked out who you were competing against to be honest.

Edit:

Sir it was never about "Winning" But that is how we advertised it. How we issued our challenge. It isn't truly winnable. But the idea was to "SET A GOAL" Need to make it special I mean , Have to make 1235 Jumps to get out to Jaques with my ship in a mining config because when I came out back in my day, i.e JULY 2016 instead of AUGUST 2016, they didn't have outfitting. What was that special goal, well making a massive contribution to the effort. Never about winning. Was about promoting the wing, delivering a metric F_ton of Osmium and bringing pilots together. I thought I'd made that pretty clear.

Fair enough. At the risk of pointing out the obvious though, probably a better way to make that clear would have been to say it instead of the posts I read which came across more like a <no need>

Well we are currently leading the CG in terms of ore delivered. Issue is since we are no longer competing in the same CG, i.e. the circumstances were changed by Frontier's decision making, our competitive edge has been completely obliterated. Example, In the five days where there was no RESTOCK available the total CG haul was 2991 and we had contributed 419 tons. About 15%. Community haul was abort 400 tons per day total. We were pushing in just over 80 tons per day.

The very next day once Frontier flipped the GODMODE switch and enabled REPAIR, OUTTING, and RESTOCK, this CG was no longer for adventurers and specialization and coordination and those who would really do some die hard mining the legendary potential melted away and it became the same mediocre CG that every other mining CG has become since. Repetitive, boring, more of the same.

The yields per day have gone from 400 tons to 8000 the very next day, to 15k to 25k per day for the community. So we are not a huge group and though our contributions wen't up as well against a group of 1800 who have access to limpets and who are just doing it at lower rates of a noob miner we aren't going to truly compete against that or deliver a huge contribution.

As of this writing I have the contribution of almost 2K but there are others who have the morale which I no longer do thanks to Frontier. This is just another in a long string of disappointment after disappointment. It is so disappointing that our wing is actively pursuing a vote as to whether or not to pull our participation from this CG. Not necessarily in protest but definitely out of the fact that it is just more of the same old same old. Nobody is too crazy about making the journey and honestly the novelty is completely lost because there is no "feeling or sense" of "frontier" here and by frontier I don't mean to pun the lack of "frontier" in the developers Pro-noun I mean this isn't the final frontier at all, it's more like Deep Space 9. In fact if the community es enough about the distance maybe "FRONTIER" will create a wormhole to get out here.

If the Teamsters Logistics Corporation decides to pull out from the Mining CG I will respect their decision as a group and absolutely terminate my presence out here. Leave you fellow miners to the daily gank n to and for the rings.

Waste of time in my eyes. It would have really been something if we would have had to deliver the limpets but basically this is a CG impossible to fail again and why bother participating since Frontier is already going to hand out participation trophies, a.k.a. limpets.

Not sure if I answered you concisely but we were rising to compete against the challenge set forth via the lack of limpets. To inspire miners back home who could not make the trip, to mine payments for the reward for those haulers who would deliver limpets to us for us to share with the community at Jaques. An actual "trade route" could have developed where by limpet haulers could have come out to collect on large sums of mined painite which players are pulling in as fast as Osmium out here, where by haulers could have sold their hauls to the highest bidder and returned with a cargohold full of painite. That challenge is gone. Removed by Frontier. They said
"No. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO." Kinda like the new Starwars Cut and how much it sucks.

Dude, what?
Where were you during the Wyrd CG?

There was a gigantic, neverending torrent of complaints surrounding that Wyrd CG, both here and on Reddit, for days on end - because it was, at first indication, directly tied to the availability of the new huge weapons *everywhere* in the game and not only at that station in Wyrd.

On top of that, there was no *mention* of that in the CG when it first started, *and* it occured at the same time as two much higher-profile CGs - one related to Jaques/Fuel Rats and the other related to the Diamond Frogs, as I recall.

Believe me, the players were EXTREMELY vocal about the Wyrd CG.

It also coincided with beta running parallel as well. If it wasn't bad enough already.

You've got your series of events backward. I was *there*. I was one of those being vocal about that CG.
That was in the second week. In the first week, no one cared enough to be vocal about the CG, because no one knew it was tied to huge weapons until Tuesday or Wednesday of week 2 of that CG.

I've just started out toward this CG. Sold my FdL and bought an Asp to make the trip. Never done any travel or exploration so just fitted it out with what I thought might come in handy. With my limited game time, my target is just to get there and deliver some tantalum before it ends.

Hope to see you all at Jacques in a week or so.

Well, the weekend didn't go as planned and I had zero time in game to make progress toward Jacques.

And as someone predicted the CG finished early soooooo.....here I am, 2k ly out from my starting point with 30t of (now useless) tantalum in the hold.

Change of plan....I'm still heading out to Jacques, but will do some exploring on the way. I've been surprised to find that even in some of the remote systems I'm travelling through, people have already been there before and left their mark!

At present rate of progress, it could be another month before I get to my destination. But hey ho, it's all good.

See you all, eventually, at Jacques.
