PSA: Jaques Station Mining Services Are Now Open!

EDIT3: As of 3 AM PST 8/4, All's well again with the limpet stock at Jaques, that was fast work - thanks Frontier!

Some point between when I looked earlier today, and now, Frontier has unlocked all the necessary things to participate in the mining CG ongoing at Jaques!

It's a good thing I double checked, the second time I logged on I was all set to somewhat dejectly start my way back home...[haha]

Edit: Some warnings before you sell anything in outfitting:
Jaques does NOT currently sell:
- Advanced/Intermediate Discovery Scanners
Edit: Jaques now has a LIMITED inventory of Fuel Scoops, as of 8/5/16 11:20 PS it is:
- 1 E, D, C
- 2 E, D, C
- 3 E, D
- 4 E, D
- 5 E
- 6 E

edit2: copy-paste of some additional tips I'd like to share about the mining CG:
- All resource reserves in the system are "pristine"
- The inner ring of the gas giant Jaques is orbiting is metallic, good if you're just after osmium (bear in mind the buy prices for painite and stuff is merely 'average' unless Jaques somehow goes into a 'boom' state)
- The Class III gas giant (closest to the star) has a metal rich inner ring, good if you want to hunt both osmium and coltan to refine into tantalum, so you can hit both CGs at once
- The Class IV gas giant's rings are both metal rich, as well, just bear in mind it's further out so the rings will be darker
SORRY I WAS WRONG! I tested it, just turns into refined Coltan...so I guess Tantalum is only made by actual refinery stations. :(

If FD could manage to create CGs that aren't completely broken, without known incompatibilities between the BGS and CG system, without simple copy past tier values, without switching between insanely high and low rewards …

Yes, maybe then they wouldn't need to fix that stuff all the time.

This time: starting CG 3 weeks too early, probably because they looked at the wrong date information in the launcher about the last CG at Jaques.

You're right, they should have run concurrently.

You can buy up to 10 limpets every 10 min. They completely screwed over the need for us to haul in limpets. Thanks Frontier you guys are always striving to screw the players who actually play your game. Unbelievable. Why can't you just tell us what you plan to do like I dont know maybe 24 hours ahead of time. I've only put a dozen hours into organizing a huge role play, promotional, organizational, motivational effort to secure limpets for miners for the CG. And now FRONTIER totally undercuts us with the 10 limpets every 10 minutes. LOL. I give up. I simply go through life now wishing I had never taken a chance on this game back in May.

How long would it take for you to come up with this? Or floating around to all of the associated discord wings we are allied with. Nobody from Frontier could give us a heads up as to their grand plan even though I had been in contact with them just the other day. I really feel like why even bother creating content for the game when they are just going to change the gameplay in the MIDDLE OF THE FRAKING CG!

That was just the PROMO, spent 6 hours securing the support of the groups, another few hours explaining what we were going to do, and lining up contracts. LOL all null and void now because FRONTIER can't be trusted to stay consistent. I mean what changed? Did they hit a certain tier? Nope we are still waiting for Tier 1. They just decided enough ppl B itched about the game that they had to activate something? Really?

Let me be clear here. I'm thrilled that RESTOCK and outfitting is available. I mean it is a damn mining CG after all. However for those who set out on a 4-8 day journey loaded out based on the conditions it sucks not having a heads up that is all.

I have 100 tons of limpets. I brought them expressly because I expected that frontier would:

- not bother to check station services before launching the mining CG
- not enable any stations services before ending the repair CG
- not include limpets in the CG goal, ensuring strong supply

Also primarily because I wanted to support the miners who were mining prior to the CG, attempting to kickstart the BGS into a higher state of function. Which Frontier ignored. All the meta alloys? Ignored. Hunting for Barni's? Ignored.

Instead? I now have 100t of limpets that could have been CG cargo but isn't, could have supported miners but won't; all because frontier frankly cannot stop fiddling. Which seems to be universally screwing everyone over. I suppose I'll just use them myself for mining now? Honestly.

Frontier. Please. Stop. Let the community do this. We've got it. We've been waiting 2+ years for this opportunity and it's creating all sorts of community lead initiatives that are becoming redundant. This is being crapped on from a great height. :<

edit: I don't want to sound ungrateful, restock/ repair is great - but it's just these random changes that there is no warning or communication of; they're happening without any real warning or logic. Suddenly things are enabled and it's not really encouraging people to actually be creative in the game.

Just to be contrary and because wild speculation seems to be a trend, here is some more. I must point out though I do not necessarily agree with what I write.

The Repair CG hit tier 5 and 50%. Could that have been the kick in point for partial services return? To get the station fully up and running tier 8 will have to be met?

Were the Meta Alloys ignored? I have no idea but I know how much I delivered and the amount a few others hauled out. The time to let the community do it ourselves was lost as soon as a CG was started. I wasn't happy about that but I'll play by the rules.

I am not saying FDev didn't interfere but before lighting the torches, it could be that we have met certain points that make things kickstart.

Only FDev know and they sure as heck are not about to tell us. Two sides to every story, not that I believe what I have written but it is possible.

Back to the game, I still have a load of Power Gens and Structural Regs to drop off.

As to your complaint - err, well, I'm not going to participate in a mining CG based upon a 22,000 ly supply chain. As I have mentioned several times in the CG thread, I was looking at not being able to participate whatsoever unless the services were unlocked, and I almost left the system when I double-checked to see if anything changed - if I hadn't, I'd probably be a few thousand light years away and already totally given up on participation.

And I know I wasn't the only one complaining.

Like, the effort you're attempting to put in is monumental, and I want to respect that...but it's also a foolhardy endeavour, a pain in the neck to accomplish, requires participating in Open or else lots of extraneous communication and private-group stuff, and so on, and even then would probably be less effective than simply mining osmium in the human bubble and carting that over to Jaques.

Overall it's just some unfortunate circumstances.

I do agree, however, that Frontier should have publicly communicated more about what's going on (when do station services unlock? why weren't they unlocked at the start of the mining CG? does Jaques still actually need meta-alloys? etc.), whether in the form of dev posts, announcements, ingame news articles - like, give us something to go on, so that both you and I aren't basically feeling kinda jerked back-and-forth at the end of our respective ropes.

Station services typically do not unlock until after a CG.

I can only presume the complaints about repair/ rearm and limpets triggered someone to go and enable them. This is fine, but it should have happened before the zarking CG started. What is the point of a CG, if crap is just enabled anyway? Why are we working to repair services if Frontier will simply enable ad-hoc anyway? It just makes the entire thing painful for no good purpose.

If they had just said that at certain tiers features would be enabled, I'd have not cared. It's not so much systems coming online; it's the entirely arbitrary nature of how this is occurring, with zero communication. Half of the community lead initiatives are in various states of 'pointless' at this stage.

It's turning what should be a glorious time with a bunch of things going on and reasons for commanders to do anything at all, into just pointless frustration. I personally know of a number of commanders who picked up the game again due to Jaques. That's how big of a deal it is, when there are genuine things for commanders to do, and genuine reasons to do them. All of which is undone when Frontier tries to do the 'right' thing, but just breaks it's own rules when intervening in CG and doesn't seem to realise some sort of communication might be a good idea.

I <3 you frontier but there are days.. there are days when I just throw my hands in the air (and try to catch them).
