I'm ready to pay $60 for an psvr update
Same here. For me Elite Dangerous would be the "killer app" to buy a PSVR.
I played Elite yesterday evening with my PSVR on my PC using TrinusPSVR.
I enjoyed it but the tracking needs improving a little bit and it seems TrinusPSVR is always being improved.
I would suggest anyone with PSVR try it on their PC.

If it's possible on the hardware, it seems like a great way to sell a ton of copies. PSVR users are probably desperate to try out games that can really show off VR well.
I've spoken to the Fdevs at E3 and PAX. I'll paraphrase what I was told without quotes.
Fdev: Of course we tried to get it to run on PSVR. The PS4 Pro can handle it but the standard PS4 didn't look good. We tried to optimize it but that meant reducing game quality and we didn't want to do that. We have internal standards we have to stand by. We could release on Pro but Sony wouldn't allow that. They require PSVR games must be playable on every version of PS4, you can enhance for pro but your base game has to function just as well.
That was a year ago. Maybe recent updates have allowed new opportunities to optimize or maybe Sony ha loosened up on Pro only version of PSVR. Soon the Pro version will be the only one sold as they retool the factory to start manufacturing for next gen.

If that's your primary reason, then ED is playable in PSVR. Just use cinema mode - I've done it myself. Seeing the galaxy on a movie screen is the next best thing to true VR. That said, seeing it on a real movie screen (I know someone) is even more amazing than virtual cinema.

You can buy and use the thrustmaster flight stick and throttle with Elite Dangerous too already!(hard to master but once mastered is amazing!)Pair that with the PSVR and you've got serious emersion! Just like Dirt Rally and Gt Sport using steering wheel+pedals+shifter and PSVR. The realism is second to none!

Their standards are just too damn high then! :O No1 in their right mind expects the same game/graphics on OG vs Pro, the systems are years apart in tech.

Was really excited about buying this game as I hadn't heard of it prior to about a week ago. After checking online I was extremely disappointed when I learned VR wasn't supported on Playstation. PSVR doesn't have many great titles like Elite Dangerous so many like myself would be day one buyers!

Glad I accidentally stumbled on this thread...I don't own PSVR (yet) but have been planning on getting it specifically for ED.
Sad to see it apparently isn't supported. Here's one more pledging support, though! You can use me as confirmation of sales for Sony, for what's that worth...lol

Glad to see there are plenty of other like minded souls out there! I gave up searching for news on this after the threads dried up 6 months back but so happy to see it's back on people's minds. I have ED on pro and have my headset and thrustmaster all ready. I love the game but stopped myself playing it further in the hope VR patch would eventually arrive. I have filled in so many VR market research surveys stating this is my main VR wish. Please make this happen. I would happily pay for the additional add-on to get VR. Pwetty pleeeeeez
