PVP ACTIVITIES

For gamers who want to play space simulation games.
It is not difficult to understand.
If there was an explanation, it wouldn' be hard to undersand, certainly...
Do you think it's normal that a game of the quality of Elite Dangerous currently has an average of 3000 players?
What is normal?
Average playing on steam, is that?
The devs must be doing something wrong.
Of course they are... Just like every other developer, apparently.

Using your own logic, it is obvious that the majority of players are perfectly content with the game, just because they can't be bothered to comment on the official forum, surely?

... and that proves:

So, how does that relate to the majority? The forum is inhabited by a tiny cross-section of the entire playerbase...
That proves that they are not on the right track in what a game as a service needs.
They have been demonising pvp for a long time.
And it's a mistake that's costing them money.
Because it's clear that their policies regarding the game are failing to make it profitable.

The other way to express that is to say, "a representative sample" as they do when polling on various subjects, they pick a small sample and use that to extrapolate trends for the entire group. Of course they have to adjust for bias and other factors, but there's no evidence that the forum members don't represent a valid cross section of the playerbase suitable for determining trends and member preferences. Of course there is also no evidence that they do, but you have to work with what you have!

The one thing FDEV have actually said on the subject is that the majority of players don't take part in PvP. This is not to say they should ignore the PvP players, but trying to portray the PvP players as the majority is clearly incorrect.

It is clear that if you set up a vegan restaurant, most of your customers are not going to be meat eaters.

That sounds right. It doesn't seem like most players have the tactics + experience + Engineering + build knowledge + ship just to reliably avoid getting ganked or pirated, as proven by Inara's threat meters, Youtube, Streams, Forums/Reddit/Discord talk, etc. The bar to entry is high for PvP. I would be surprised if even 10% of people engaged in PvP as someone shooting back just semi regularly.

and that there will always be someone coming in and asking for a mixed grill, just because... (and acting offended when refused)
And then the owner of the restaurant will ask himself why, with the customers he has, he is not able to make his restaurant profitable.

You didn't mention your vegan restaurant profit & loss accounts...

... nor have you read the Frontier Developments financial reports, I'd guess. Take a look for many posts by @Ian Doncaster breaking down the real figures, I believe you might be disappointed.

I know this is a rather sensitive subject in this forum.
But I would honestly like to ask if there are ever going to be any in-universe activities implemented for players who like to pvp?
There are many players that after many hours, is the activity that we like to do and today there is nothing in the game that encourages pvp.
I think contrary to what many folks would have you believe, outside of Pirates roleplaying and the gankers picking on unarmed Titan scavengers there is actually very little PvP in Elite.
Unless someone can point me to somewhere where lots of players are actually fighting each other in similar ships.
I can wait.

It's also clear that if you set up a restaurant with both vegan and meat and find that most people ask for the vegan option than you might have an audience that prefers vegan food. Arguing that ED is in any way related to a vegan restaurant though seems a bit of a stretch, I mean players can always go to the meat buffet (PvP groups combat areas) and grab whatever they want. What you say, there are none because there aren't enough PvP players to set any up? Oh well, to bad.

All the pvp in the game nowadays apart from ganking, is orchestrated by players who like that kind of game.
The game does not have any activities that are intended for pvp.
What problem would you have for example , for frontier to include something in the game for pvp players.
That's what this thread is about, or was intended to be about.
I don't understand why you players who don't like pvp come in here.
What would that take away from you?

Imagine some kind of activity with POIs for people to pvp and earn in-game credits.
What would it take away from the rest of the players?
