PvP PvP build advice needed - Thermal Cascade

Hi all, was just looking for some build advice, specifically PvP. Got bored with my other ships and am building a type 10 for some PvP combat. (Yeah I know, slow as hell....but that canopy view in vr....)

Anyway, I've decided to try LR Cannons (for the increased shot speed) 5 of them, gimballed, as main weapons backed up by 2 cascade rails, 2 turreted pulses with emissive & scramble.

1 cannon has dispersal of course.

I'm considering Thermal Cascade for the others, I understand this can't take a ship over 100% on their own, but I figured it might cause some issues for people running already hot builds or when they bank.

Having not used cannons in a serious build before, how many do I need to push a target to 100%? Is this tactic even effective in the case of a hot running or banking ship?

If not, I'm considering running force shells. Or, if neither is viable I'm open to alternative advice.

Side note - going with bi weaves, 1 SCB. 1 heat sink, 2 point defence and boosters. 1k shield, good resists, 6k hull. Armoured PP.

As a T10 owner that build sounds great to me. I use incendiary MC instead of frag cannons, but otherwise very similar. I had to put charge enhance on the distributor to deal with this power draw

Thermal is totally pointless now in PVP.

It was such an OP mod before that it got nerfed into pointlessness.

By OP, I mean it was the only thing to have it you wanted to win every single PVP fight ever.
It would melt any ship you were fighting way before they managed to do enough damage to you.

While it does put a little pressure on any ship you hit IF they bank at that point, the effect is weak sauce.

Not sure if they have fixed how broken they made HY, but if that is fixed. That is the one to go for.

Thanks for the suggestion for HY shell but I heard with the recent patch that it ruins your damage output unless the shell hits like 3 modules? :( Hmm wondering if I should just make them force shell despite the shot speed reduction

Indeed.

All it does, its keeping heat at 90% levels, but its need being apply constantly, otherwise its waste of dps. I.B ruskies loved use it, some of them still use it even now (how poor of them, I bet they ALL miss its former effectivness), but its nowhere OP as before.

Hotter ships with OC PP and high heat weps may be preety only ones remain, that are weak against it. Also, it does have zero effect on hull itself, so hull tank based bulids can only laugh at those who might try use thermal cascade against them.
 
Ive decided to give 4x force shell 1x dispersal a go, for now, see if its any good :D

Any suggestions on a weapons loadout for Type 10 if this doesn't work out? xD
