PvP (Open) commanders not welcome on this forum?...

Can't rep you enough for this.

Unfortunately it worked, all the crying made everything easy-mode, from the NPC nerf to the easy mode elite ranking and easy-mode engineers. Nothing has meaning anymore, anyone can get anything.

All went downhill since NMS failed and many joined E.D. At that point servers went bad and game started to get easy.

More and more join especially since the Thargoid showoff, i can only assume that the game will get even easier to please the masses.

FDev focused on supporting a 'crap' tier of players. And we have what w have. Unfortunately there is no alternative for pseudo space-sim. Eve is space excel, multi in NMS is a legend, Star Delayer will be released in 2043. Many people have a hope for Dual Universe, but in fact nobody knows what it will be.

Wow, crap tier players? Stay classy.

And then you wonder why you have to dodge forum infractions and people have a dislike towards PvPers? :D

Don't mention the NPC nerf...it still hurts.

I'm mainly on reddit and although we get the occasional "boo hoo I just got killed by a mean pwerson boo hoo" salt post, the sodium chloride level is a lot less then here.

I know we have heated debates, but recent events sadden me.

I recently visited a PvP discord. I learned that they were hosting a PvP event. I asked why they weren't posting it here on the official forum, and the reply was:

"Forums aren't the place for pvp. Posters only cry about it, mods don't like it. Everyone who would be interested is on reddit or on the discord servers we posted to."

The one I spoke with didn't care to elaborate, so I'll just leave the comment here. But I'm genuinely surprised that the official forum isn't considered the goto platform for all who play Elite: Dangerous.

Maybe I'm just unaware of the importance of reddit and discord. Or that this forum was considered toxic by PvPers. I asked if it would be frowned upon if I shared the event here, and got no reply. Consent through silence I guess. So here's a link. It sounds like fun:

See you in the black commanders. :)

(talk about a divided community... :()

I hope that PvEers such as myself would welcome PvPers as well. The only issues I have with them is when they start demanding that theirs is the only way, that PvP must be catered to at the cost of all others, or that anyone who disagrees is a carebear, a forum dad, or worse. I don't think we dislike PvPers, we just dislike them calling us names, accusing us of cowardice etc, calling our playstyle illigitimate, and so on. Do you blame us for disliking that? Really, if PvPers feel unwelcome here, it's only because of the way they've attempted to treat PvEers who (in this game at least) are the majority players. The same thing happens to PvEers on the vast majority of MMO games for the same reason as it happens to PvPers here - the majority tends to dominate. The fact that PvEers are treating PvPers here the same way that PvPers treat PvEers on other game forums is poetic justice, really.

I dunno about you but the NPCs are bots as far as I am concerned and are tedious.. Player encounters have depth and meaning. Might sound odd but I wonder about the collective IQ of folks who'd rather encounter a bot than a real player.. Perhaps thats a bit unkind but whislt everyone has a view not all on this planet are afforded the same level of intelligence. ;)

I was hoping this thread would go away under the weight of its own ridiculousness but apparently not.
Another PvP "pay attention to us" offensive but this time with a "feel sorry for us" angle of attack. Laughable.
The concept of anyone being "not welcome" is quite off-track in this forum. Post want you want but when statements like the above quote are made - which are quite common but in different wording - you expect folks to sit there and listen to that dribble? And if they don't agree the forum is not welcoming?

Once again however I don't get the whine.
Open = Other players + chance of unwanted Cmdr interaction. Is anyone confused by this?
PG = Other players + no chance of unwanted Cmdr contact.
Solo = No description needed.

And this is not enough?
Why do "PvP'ers" insist on dragging everyone into Open to be their content? The reason is obvious. No smokescreens please.
You have Open so PvP away to your hearts content. No one is stopping you or cares.
Why is the fact that people don't want to play with you or play your way so bothersome to you? This makes you feel unwelcome? Play the way you want, post what you want, but stop trying to drag the (apparent) bulk of the community with you.

Oh...and nice try at a counterpunch with the "Moderator bias" line. Hehe...

Does this warrant a /thread?

:D

I'm sorry, I'll shut up now. But this really made my day!

SS/DD.

Oh good. Keep making the case "PvP'er" if that is what you are?

I think it sad that they feel this way and also they are helping to make the problem worse too.

By leaving and going to reddit they have excluded themselves from people who will never visit the so called cows bottom of the internet for various reasons and they are also taking away the opportunity for anyone who may only come here to learn about the event.

While I also understand these forums are not for the faint heart'd it kind of seems funny that the so called PvP players can't handle a bit of heat. Hope the event went/goes well (No idea if it's happened or not as there is nothing on the forums about it!:)). Maybe tell them they are being numpties and just excluding themselves more from the community but personally I think they need to man up because if they cant handle forum PvP then what hope do they have in a game.

With name calling like this, it's no wonder the different player factions go at each other.

If someone felt touched, no sorry. He felt not me. Maybe its time to move to different tier?
There is a player segmentation in games, it have names. Not judging. Its a business and making money. You can sell everything to anyone.

I said it from the start when i started playing 1 year ago, this game needs different servers and everything would be perfect. Those who like a safe-mode should have their PvE mode, those who like a challenge Open-PvP mode. No compromises, no cross-play on these servers, no getting stuff in solo and then go open. Monthly leaderboards would help aswell, with ladder ranking for everything from mining to player kills, would bring competition and fun, who mined the most that month or who made the most kills (with perks/advantages or not, for example the best miner gets next month 50% more money from mining, second place 40% and so on).

Leaderboards / ranked seasons is something that many games do, let's take Blizzard for example: Diablo3 season ladders + Hearthstone expansions that get obsolete and are replaced after some time (standard>wild).

I agree. You are right and it was proposed many times.

But it will never happen.
Its a common knowledge what should have to be done to make it right.
Its easier for FDev when community is arguing each other. divide et impera. Its sad, but hate is a fuel for community here.

Common knowledge to a minority. Because it's just in the interest of a minority. Also the reason we have a different model, which has been well communicated by FDEV.

Common knowledge from a point of gaming and system architecture.

Minority of who? Majority of who?
In fact, answer does not matter.
