Python is a armed trader.

armed traders are as old as spacesims. maybe you just haven't played to many so you couldn't possibly know.

what godforsaken brainless worm would design a fighter ship with 292 tons of cargo space. The third highest in the game currently. Python is most clearly NOT a pure fighter.

with so much cargo you have only a class 3 shield and NO cell banks! keep reasonable dude. with this setup you get eaten up by 2 NPC cobra´s......
with class 6 shield and 3x class 3 banks you have 190 cargo......
thats enough for the fuel cost of a long trade trip (one tank fill = 160k!) + bit of profit
or buy a class 4 scoop also.....and wait 2 minutes every 3 -5 jumps

but as i said....i would be PERFECTLY fine, if FD would remove one class 6 rack TOTALLY!
nerf cargo.....not the ship itself

Totally agree, that is exactly what I've been saying out loud ^^

yep, with a Class 6 shield you loose a lot of Cargo. But you still got 190t of Cargo. That is WAY more than most any other trading ship sporting some crappy shields or none at all in the game. while sporting more shielding than any other ship but an Anaconda!

FD already said they will make a pass on running costs for the expensive ships like Python, Anaconda and L9 btw.

No, they shouldn't remove Cargo and turn the armed freighter into something else. They should introduce a new ship that isn't an armed transporter in the first place!

OK, so then nerf ASP - my iwin button.

People want iwin button - cobra and viper. Cheap ships capable to destroy everything. Even 200 times more expensive cruisers. Now tell me who want to iwin button? :D

Played them all - the original Elite i played on the C64 if my memory didn't fade to much. nerf cargo not a problem with that.

yep exactly this!

New heavy fighter has ONLY 2 large hardpoints and nothing else?
Go away with this crap. ASP have more firepower.

If a Vulture has the maneuverability of a Eagle and 2 large hard points it will be an awesome fighter. Or does maneuverability not matter anymore and only amount of hardpoints?...cant have it both ways.

with the dumbfire missile nerf they won't no more so easily. you can rest savely from all but the most ace pilots in small ships now.

You don't have to buy and fly one.

Of course not, but i am sure i buy, because almost every ship in this game gives a pleasure from flying. But when you play a lot and reach some level you want make a step forward.
However when we talking about balancing and heavy fighter i need to mention than ASP is very good in this role, and 4xSmall+2Mediums have more firepower than 2xLarge. This is not his role but he is good with it.

We made a test, and ASP can fight with eagle about maneuverability. Of course eagle is much more agile, but he cannot escape from asp fire range in 'dogfight'.

Man, dont be so serious ;) Everybody know we dont know anything... but i think heavy fighter should be more powerful than cheap explorer like asp ;) But i do not know what will be price of Vulture and where it will be placed on ship roadmap.
But maybe it will be extremelly well shielded, armored, fast and nice craft. Crap was a joke in context of nerfing python ;)

It is the darn internet that makes me seem serious I fear. Try to imagine me wearing a pink Hello Kitty onesie. :p I agree it should be more powerfull, and based on the specs I imagine it will be in the hands of a skilled pilot. As for price, we don't know ofcourse but the upgrades themselves would be in the 20M region based on Mike's specs. So from what I gather it will be slightly cheaper than the ASP, (far) better at combat and absolutely terrible at everything else. On the other hand, some guys are already planning to use it as a high-speed low-volume rare-trader. Not sure how that will work though, with its little FSD...

They'll be in the same update probably. The changes to the python is something like -17% to speeds, turn rates and accelerations, -33% to base shield strength roughly. This puts the flight model in a better place for a large fighting based ship and also leaves room for the other fighting ships to come so they can be more manoeuvrable than it. The python still has one of the best hard point placements when it can get its guns to bare on a target and it won't become a sitting duck either.
Why would you do this? It makes no since at all!!!!!!!! The people crying are trying to fight Pythons in vipers and not willing to put the work in to get a larger ship! this is ridiculous .

Look, there is the reason! It was hidden between two other sentences, so I made it easier for you to find it. ;)

17% is small. Anything less and the change wouldn't even be noticeable. I'd be surprised if it was noticeable even now. It might be a sitting duck if you fit it with the smallest and crappiest thruster module you can get away with but it would have been that way before as well.

Of course I'm balancing ships based on what I have access too right now. It makes no sense to set up a ship the moment before release based on what's only in the public build when I know in advance or already have access to all the other ships that will also be released soon. What a ridiculous idea. I'd have to constantly adjust each ship in the whole game to take into account a new ship each and every time if I hadn't tried to look at the big picture first. It might mean a ship gets released that doesn't seem to fit the current trend, or relies on game play that hasn't made it in yet so it's a bit weaker but if I tried to counter those things I'd only have to take them away later and that doesn't go down well ;)

did frontier + beta tester/backers not test the python at all in alpha, beta, gamma?!!?
its so ridiculous, to make such HUGE role-changes after a full release
