Python Fighters ???

Since when has play balance ever depended upon identically outfitted ships? ED is not some IROC-like racing league where an uber-body dictates configuration.

In real world war/racing/whatever, you -Always- have variation in configurations. Heck, you even have variations in capabilities with the exact SAME configuration from ship to ship. Not intended, but its the nature of complex systems. That is reality. Period.

What does the real world have to do with so-called "play balance" in a silly game? And just what is that specifically? Or did you just make that up?

I'd wet my pants if the Python was allowed a fighter bay.

Yes, I know it's already great at everything, and would push it even further in to the perfect ship category...

But that doesn't stop me wanting one.

:D

Do FD.
Just. Do. It.

What is play balance in a silly game? It's simplistic to assume it relies on identical configurations. Was drawing a parallel to real life where two competing sides do not have identical configurations, even amongst themselves. Heck, even in Roman times, the more crowd-desireable gladiator contests were between opponents with entirely different weapon "loadouts".

The introduction of Engineers added variability beyond basic assumptions such as ship X can only have certain shield strength and or can only fire weapon y with z pips for so long given preset maximum power, distributor, and heat performance. Embrace it and adapt, or at least stop whining about it. FD is not going to undo engineers.

AFA same configurations resulting in somewhat different capabilities, I deal with that IRL business all the time.

I honestly feel conflicted about giving pythons a fighter bay

In a way it would be cool.

In another way ... python is already so good at so many things, not to mention it's a medium ship so you can land on outposts aswell for missions or loading off cargo, it's one of, if not the the best allrounder ship in the game with amazing flexibility, does it really need even more?

If a Python gets a fighter bay, I demand that second Large hardpoint on my Gunship - no reason why the Assault ship gets one and the Gunship doesn't.

to fight a figher bay into the python, you have to remove that space for the fighter bay permanently from its maximum cargo space - as that bay is ALWAYS there.
and given its current maxium cargo space, the hulls internal layout is already at max efficiency.

the keelback sacrifices a size 4 slot (16t) for the permanent fighter bay
the gunship has the bay tucked onto the underside of a dropship chassis, and two medium hardpoints moved further forward into added housings.

the T9 doesn't uses only a fraction of its internal volume for cargo, so the fighter bay was probably always there.

for me its would probably more realistic if they would add a fighter bay to the t7... because its another ship that doesn't use its internal space very efficently with its current cargo space...

Thank you. I will also wet my pants. But let's cool down, a'int going to happen. The Python is already seriously too capable a craft, even after the Great Python Nerf, and giving it more is ridiculous. It is simply too small. Ok, we can apply the Reality Distortion Field, but Apple has already seriously got a trademark on that ;)

Cheers Cmdr's
