Quality of Life Improvement: Input LAT/LON Co-ords and have a Surface Waypoint appear, similar to the surface scan mission Waypoint.

Repped and agreed.

It took me longer then expected to find one of the Thargoid bases, and that was with the coordinates. And the only reason I had those was thanks to Google.

There's next to nothing within the game to inform players about the Thargoids bases, or where to find them.

Absolutely this is needed!

I know there are bearing calculators and they do make life 100 times easier than the whole "fly around making the numbers go up and down approach" - which I embarrassingly admit I was doing up until recently when I noticed that the HUD did actually give me a bearing that I could use in a calculator (don't ask, I have no idea why for an entire year I didn't notice a ribbon of numbers at the top of my HUD bright as day) BUT that said, custom waypoints would certainly help out for navigation a tonne! I know some people think it'll make it too easy but this is an argument I see a lot on the forums about many issues that people raise - most "challenges" in the game aren't actually how I want to be challenged; I want my brain to be challenged, my reaction times and skill as a pilot. As it stands all this (and other aspects of the game) challenges is my patience and how long I can stand flying at 30kps in a straight line....

This. This this this this this this this.

I agree, it took me so long to find the Thargoid base last night, up to supercruise, back down again, website to find the direction I should be going in, the UA I had dropped my canopy down to 29% (let alone the damage to the rest of the ship)

Guy's you don't even need to attempt to learn planetary navigation.

I'm going to heartily disagree with you here. It took me just as long to use this method as it did to find sites manually. Jumping in and out of SC around a planet is a slow, painful, and frustrating process. With the tendency of ships to drift, it's easier to line yourself up along the compass points (0 or 180, then 90 or 270) so that you only need look at the lat/long coords to ensure you stay on track. get to one coord, then turn 90 deg and dial in the second. Regardless, it's an unbelievably tedious game element (I know, we're all gonna die of not surprise). Can't tell you how many times I've been tracking lat/long only to find my heading has drifted a bit.

I get the whole touchy, feely, 1920s era methods of navigation as a draw to the game, but please, please, we need coordinate assignable bookmarks. (I might say this would be nice for deep space POIs as well, based on epoch and local system coordinates within systems if there's a real Keplerian model behind object locations)

I'm not sure you could find a single player who wouldnt want to see planetarty bookmarks included in the game.

Maybe FD can forgo yet another inevitable round of unnecessary combat re-balancing, and add this universally requested, long sort after feature instead?

In addition, can you imagine with the right in-game navigation tools how fun this would be for Multi-crew if you have a navigator who would to that for you instead of having to switch through various map screens to plot routes and set way points....

As a heads up to all here, the game will generate planetary waypoints to certain places like Dav's Hope once you have visited them once but I do agree being able to plot your own waypoints from the system map would be very useful.

I just want to be able to type in some coordinates and then get a marker on the surface. Doesn't need to be fancy, just accurate. We have this functionality with old fashioned GPS. Should be common place in the 34th century, right?

It's a function which should have been available when Horizons was released.

The mind absolutely boggles *shrugs*

Dear People Who Decide What Gets Done in Frontier...So for 2.4 - please, please allocate some dev time to marking a surface waypoint we can target, by way of the 3D surface map in the System Map.
Please!?

I'm in the US so I don't know how this would work but I'd buy the entire team a beer if they did this.

Yep. It's all true. I have a heck of a time with this. It's comical how badly I it up trying to get the lat/long to converge just so. It's a royal pain. If I could put down a marker to target on the surface at a desired coordinate point that would make things so much easier. . As it is, I dread having to land at a specified location like this now.
