Question on removing bounty and noterity

I know this has probably been answered before but I am aggravated and out of patients.

How can I get my notoriety back to 0? I am on a planet driving around, and have been for the last 90 minutes and notoriety has not dropped.

Any suggestions??

Log out too soon I believe the timer resets.. Once you get to 0 you still need to pay off the bounty as well. Find a low security system with interstellar factors.

Not sure it even decays while you are out of your ship. Let us know if it does. :D

I just sat in the no fire zone in solo near a station with the Interstellar Factor and shut everything off except life support, power plant and distributor. Then went to bed.

When I woke up, I turned everything back on and landed at the station. As I recall, I still had to log off and back on in order to pay the bounty.

I will mess with it tommorow after work, seems excessive for targeting a non wanted ship during a battle and hitting it once bymistake unfortunately I ran into the same ship during the battle and destroyed it.

I did this the other day. Drove around in the SRV. It works

Bout a month or so back, I had notoriety of 3...spent nearly 5 hours straight in srv and it didnt drop at all. So either one of us is mistaken or its another inconsistant rng balls up.

Stay in the ship, keep yer nose clean and embrace the boredom of doing next to nothing. Leave yer game on overnight and send yer ship into the great beyond on a full tank...thats about the least boring and inane method of getting notoriety down and its ddne by not playing the game ^

I will give it a shot in a bit when I get home. I am on the xbox one it cannot just be left on the controller will turn off after a bit then the system will log you out of game after a period of time.

I got this message from frontier support ( fastest response I have ever received from support ) :)

Hi CMDR,

I can confirm that the timer should indeed tick down even when in a fighter or SRV.

I hope you continue to enjoy the Elite Dangerous universe,
If you do encounter any issues in the future please do not hesitate to contact us as we are always happy to help.

Fly safe commander,
Best Regards

Rather than open another thread on this, I'll ask here:

I played for the first time in ages last night (mostly due to exams and work demands) and decided to do some engineering on my Annie. I was finding it difficult, because even in Anarchy systems bounty hunters kept interrupting while I was trying to collect materials. Checked and turns out I have a 146k bounty from Ammatch Gold State. (Fair enough, as I killed quite a few of them.). All the modules on my ship have "legal issues" also. I researched how to clear these, but have run into a problem:
  • Notoriety at 0 - Check
  • Low security system where Ammatch Gold State are present - Check
  • Dock at station with an Interstellar Factors - Ummmmm, There are none with a large landing pad.
Any other way of getting rid of this, or will I have to suffer on until I die? Seems like there should be another way.

Drive around for another 30 minutes. It takes 2 hours, in game, to drop 1 point.

Find a different system. There are IF at large star ports in different systems, or check Planetary Installations, as these always have large pads and often have IF contacts.

You need to go to an IF in a jurisdiction other than who you have a bounty with. Docking at a station you are wanted in will restrict your access to most services.

Any low security system will have IF. So you simply need to search for one with a large landing pad. Also anarchy systems have IF. This also means any station or base controlled by an anarchy faction will have an IF, even if the rest of the system doesn't due to higher security.

The only local low security systems with planetary bases (and large landing pads) don't have this faction present and this bounty isn't showing up on their boards. I've tried logging and board hopping. I'll check nearby anarchy systems next time I'm on, but I seem to remember most of them being low pop from the last time I was trying to kill T9s for Chemical Processors.

I've checked all the nearby low security systems. Either this faction aren't present, or there are no large landing pads. I'll try some anarchy systems, but I'm not hopeful if memory serves, large landing pads are scarce in the ones I can recall.

You don't need the faction. Every IF will handle any and all bounties. Just check the contacts selection at the station.

I did that. Nothing was showing up on the board. Are there any other prerequisites? Has to be Empire/Alliance/Federation or something?

Could it be a bug, as the bounty was picked up before the new C&P changes? This is my first time playing since they were brought in.

Are you sure you clicked on the Interstellar Factors? And if you are certain the bounty was from before the change and not from after, send in a ticket because all past bounties were supposed to be deleted with the change.

Then by rights, ye shouldnt have anything at all as frontier declared a complete amnesty when crime and punishment landed...which explains the crime spree leading upto it. After the update, yer record should have been absolutely clear of all bounties. Might help if ye sent off a ticket...welcome back btw been a while ^
