Question regarding ship building and game mechanics

So the way I understand the update, sources have called it the end of the thargoids war. Also, from the atmosphere I'm seeing, people are getting tired of the war, so many of the last updates have been war related, and a lot of people are tired of the thargoids war being the only thing that happens in the updates. Just the feeling I'm getting from different elite channels
Yup. The war could end. Doesn't mean Titans, Spires and the Thargoid conflict mechanics need to disappear, which seemed to be your concern (not being able to set up camp near a Titan).

If, after U18, we never see a Titan again, I'll eat my hat (and balk at an absurdly wasteful design decision by FD at a time when they can't afford to do that).

How to end the war
  1. The Thargoids just leave for no reason we can work out, maybe we were largely irrelevant to what they were really here for.
  2. Many new maelstroms are seen on their way to the bubble.
  3. Someone negotiates a treaty.
So thargoids leaving for seemingly no reason already happened. It's how the first thargoids war ended

Just watched the video, and FD call this the "culmination" of the Thargoid War (highest/most dramatic point), and that we can take the fight to the Thargoids.

So... I know the various communities around Elite receive an inch and take a dozen yards... a lot of people heard "culmination" and probably thought "the end", but.... that''s not what that means. There's an interpretation that means that, sure, but I genuinely think there's very little chance of the war "ending"... rather, it's entering a "steady state" of "no more new mechanics being introduced" after this point, with the ebb and flow going entirely into the hands of players at a sustainable rate.

The earlier doubling of the requirements for fighting the war would coincide with our ability to impact the Titans, and potentially "pause" or "reset" their progress. So yeh... I doubt the titans writ-large are going anywhere. Maybe the ones in the bubble get pushed out, but there will be more.

EDIT: Also, at one point Art stumbles saying "End of the Thargoid War" and corrects to say "Well, not the end of the Thargoid war, but the ability to end the Titans". So yeah, doesn't sound like the war is going anywhere if there was a need felt to correct that.

Can you post a link of the announcement? I didn't know where to get it

Directly, here.

Also, the announcements thread:

In the stickies there.

.... uh.... what? Thargoid war isn't going anywhere anytime soon. You don't just introduce a major mechanic to the game and blow it away that quick.... and FD have never moved that fast... because PP update? That's been talked about for yeeeears now. If that happened this year, i rekon @Rubbernuke would eat his hat.

You might be thinking of the "major feature rework", which was meant to have more details revealed earlier last year, and finished end of last year.... neither of which has happened so i wouldn't invest much in that.

Edit: wait, didn't see therre was an announcement after i slept about new pp. Still don't see how we'll be ending the war next update though.
Yep, except rubbernuke isn't eating his hat. I think he's activating the barbecue grill.

Did some engineering on my thrusters, shied boosters and multi cannons in my python. I can stop threat level 2 or less signal orcas, I've even survived a four.

I am having help, I'm in the system I'm pledged to, but I did upgrade my combat rank,

Sorry, just really proud of how this is going

Glad to hear you're doing well and enjoying yourself! You have to start small with combat. Sometimes you win, sometimes you loose but every fight is a lesson. I started combat by slapping some gimballed guns on my exploration DBX and swatting Mostly Harmless Adders and Cobras at nav beacons.

I'll never forget the occasion when I headed to a Threat 4 Pirate Activity signal for the first time in that DBX—I swear there were half a dozen Pythons and 'Condas that immediately opened up on me. Didn't even get a single shot on one of them and barely made it out there alive🙃 Now, a thousand hours later, I can reliably hit an Eagle with railguns and dumbfire rockets—and it feels great!

Good on you for wanting to listen and learn too, and glad you're enjoying it :)

A lot of people who post threads like this don't want help, they just want people to agree that "something's busted" or "this is all the game's fault for being bad", and just get mad at people offering advice.

It's always refreshing when someone genuinely wants help!

It's why I made this thread, If thts true, I'm o surprised people would ask for help but not want it

I remember my very early days when I bought an Eagle, thought "my first combat ship!" and started entering CZs, pretty much unengineered. Things generally ended badly, but I kept trying (at least the rebuys were low). Actually, I think a lot of my rebuy count probably came that way, with an honourable mention for my early AX combat attempts in a Krait II.
