Questions about Security

Sooo glad to see security made it!!!! the chasing looks great [yesnod]

Now Im wondering what happens when security catches the vandal? Do they get taken to the park exit and removed, or are they brought to a holding cell for a short while before being sent back into the park? Does the victim get their money back?

Can vandals commit other crimes? Like graffiti? I could see why that might not work but it did look awesome in the original animations. In another thread, somebody came up with ideas for vandals causing bathrooms to breakdown, or setting fires in trash bins, or throwing "stink bombs" at guests hahaha those were some cool ideas [up][up]

Also, will you ever add different faces to employees?

Here is what I heard Sam say....
1. pick pockets will be specific characters that can enter the park and are not normal guest - they come in with the sole reason to be trouble
2. when the security guard catches them he said they will be expelled from park - but not clear how
3. Vandals are normal guests that get annoyed and are not happy
4. the only things I heard they vandalize is the benches and garbage bins
5. not clear if vandals get action taken against them or not (like being expelled)

Oh i just saw the videos that are silent, thanks. Seems cool having pick-pockets as a separate type AND normal guests becoming vandals when unhappy. I just wish they could have done the graffiti like in the original video cuz it looked so cool [tongue]

There should be 3 types of vandals
- Unhappy guests
- Pick pockets
- Troublemakers

troublemakers would be like mischievous kids or teens that pop balloons and cause mayhem annoying other guests [haha]

I went back and watched again and they can damage the fences as well. Engineers can be set up to replace/fix damaged items...but it costs $$$

the other super interesting bit of info i caught was how the pickpocket dispersal will work. The larger your park. The larger chance you'll get pick pockets. Successful pickpockets who are not caught, increate the chances of more pickpockets coming to your park.

I hope there are some intuitive ui elements added to help understand this. If its too intertwined in the animations, its purpose and complexity may just get lost, like so many of the guest brain "features" have since launch.

This adds a bit more challenge in other areas of the game. Durring my challenge parks especially early on I really work on just getting by with guests happiness and approval. One ride, a few stalls... scenery. I can see guests loosing patience and breaking items making this strategy less effective.

Security staff is in the game now?!?!.....

I haven't played Planet Coaster for 3 weeks cause my desktop PC is being serviced under warranty for faulty RAM and to carry out a few upgrades. I should be receiving it this morning via CourierPost (hopefully, it is scheduled and I did ring them, I live in NZ). I heard there's a new flat ride in the game.

I'm dying to wait for my desktop to get back to me as I haven't played this game in a few weeks and since my HP laptop isn't powerful enough to run this game on 1080p max settings. I'm gonna search for youtube videos with security guards in this game. And then I'm gonna put 100 security staff in my park [squeeeeee] I've been using Red Coats (props scenery) so far which look like security guards and have enjoyed everyone acting legally in my park. Security staff will add a whole new experience to gameplay [happy]

What about line jumpers? At my local park that is not allowed, and if caught you could be ejected from the park without refund. My local park has tough security, they have their own force called Dorney Park Patrol, and they are armed. They will boot you from the park if you do anything bad that is a threat to the park or guests. Also, if you are a season pass holder, your pass can be revoked for the season and a trespass ban placed on you for a period of time usually the remainder of the season some cases longer. At my park the guys in black or blue uniforms are regular officers whereas the ones in white dress shirts are higher ups, like the chief and sergeant, etc. Another crime, what about harassing guests? Or kidnappers? Those are kind of weird, though for a video game. PC does have gay couples. Last year Dorney Park had over 50 arrests last summer for drugs, and the park has hired two township police officers so to cut down on calls to the township police to arrest people who are detained in the security office.

But line jumpers would be another cool feature to add with security management.

I'm so excited to be getting security! I really wasn't expecting it to be coming to be honest. Hopefully it's only the start and with future updates, some new ways for troublemakers to cause mayhem like what was said in the original post.

Vandals: abandon all hope ye who enter here...

Seriously, I am totally not a fan of having crime in the game. If it's in, it should be an option like ride aging. Or even better, the player should have the option of being ruthlessly draconian and utterly eradicating crime in all its forms, to the general applause of society. Seriously, I deal with the results of real crime on a daily basis in my job as a firefighter. And not just arson and drunks causing wrecks, but the full gamut of what drugs, alcohol, and inflammatory rhetoric can do. The vast bulk of a firefighter's job these days is emergency medicine, and the vast bulk of that is because of one crime or another.

So I play PC to create my happy place, where all is sweetness and light, far removed from the harsh realities of real life. I absolutely resent any intrusion of the worst parts of human nature in the paradise I'm trying to create, and will respond to it with nuclear option as the 1st resort.

Totally agree +1
I am also worried this becomes a routine, run of the mill, maintenance annoyance, you've seen the animation once, it was cute.. the 15th time.. it becomes monotony and not fun anymore.. sort of like the shop that closes if I forget to give the pay raise to the employee. wash, rinse, repeat... humdrum. Hope there is more to it than that.

i really wish people would make their mind up about this game. various people have been complaining about the lack of managment in the game. Frontier add more stuff to worry about, and then peeps complain. Whilst its true giving people the choice is alwayd the best option, it just irks me.

That's exactly how it works - for sandbox you can simply turn crime off if you'd rather not deal with it!

Cheers

Andy

^ I am VERY glad to hear that we'll have the option to turn on or off the security and vandalism. Thank you Andy.

LoL are you serious? Vandalism has been a part of the RCT series since it was originally released, just because security didn't make it into PC at release doesn't mean you didn't know it was in the works. Theres been videos of security for PC ever since march of last year, and everybody has discussed how its been missing for the past few months

Theres not too many games I know of without some form of crimes, chaos, destruction, or even death in them, unless of course your talking about something like candy crush. Its not like your actually interacting with the real life criminals

Just like any great story needs conflict and villains, so does a great game [wink]

Can you turn off crime, but still put/have and enjoy security staff in your park? I'd like lots of security staff in my park just for the fun of it, and I play in sandbox mode.
