Quick guide to attacking the Titan's

With many new commanders now answering the call and heading in to attack the Titans, perhaps for the first time, I thought I'd produce a really quick guide to try and help out.

Hopefully it more or less follows the currently accepted meta. There's lots more I could have included (especially on more detailed ship build points) but I wanted to keep it brief so all the essential information on the process was there at a glance in social media posts.

By all means let's use this thread to discuss your own methods and tactics, ask any further questions on the process, post guide links for more detailed information, etc, etc.

I'll start that ball rolling by also including a link to Mechan's excellent Titan ship build video guide.

OK. Going in on Titan Taranis with my AX Krait II runs at 17%.
I have 2 EAX MC (3C) but only 2AX Missiles (3B and 2D)
I noticed Mechans has 4 AX Missiles. Are MC's any good on the core?

Also notice you don't have TV Beam?

First time back at Titan (indeed any Thargoid war due to unplayable interdictions) since October.

EDIT also, is it back to sheildless and HRP/MRP?

EAX MCs are fine, maybe the missiles do a bit more damage, but that's not a big deal. TV beam is not a necessity. Your ship already runs at 17%, that should suffice.
The Titan's what, though?
Obviously the last word got censored. 😁

Step 2: Silent running to avoid inter/hyperdiction.

Huh? You can't activate silent running in supercruise, much less hyperjump.

Yeah, MC's aren't bad, I think the AX missles are better tho.

Yeah, it's there in bullet point 01.

That's what I've been using.

It's a guide to kicking the Titan's prolapse.

Could be worth adding putting 4 pips to system in step 5, if you're new to the pulse wave it can take a few tries to get the timing right.
Yeah, I forgot to mention that. It does work without but you're right, more pips to SYS gives you a bigger window of success on getting through.

Sorry, didn't have space to write a longer description in the graphic.

What I mean is, the INSTANT you drop into normal space after the hyper/inter-diction engage silent running and start boosting away. Then stay silent (using heat sinks as necsssary) until you're just about to jump out again.

After the hyperdiction drops you to normal space, activate silent running so the glaive, if any, cannot get a lock on you - and boost away from them

Frontier have switched off the Glaive (at least in the Taranis system, haven't tried the others yet), and friendly systems are one jump away, so I've just seen scouts & interceptors. Simply outrunning them works like in the old days.

Uh, but I was interdicted by one and monitored one inside the titan zone of the maelstrom just two days ago.
Granted, its not as many as once was.

Have Glaives caused trouble since the anti-Titan free-for-all announcements? I've been hyperdicted/interdicted a bunch of times on my way to Taranis, but it's always been interceptors & scouts. Might just be dumb luck.

Thanks for the rundown. Certainly useful to many. It also served as a reminder to why I don't engage in the thargoid gameplay. :)

Getting boring very quickly - only 2 times out of 6 visits not inter/hyperdicted at all, but even then shot up in Titan after shooting 2 vents waiting for core to come out - all hell breaks loose and I'm still at 17% heat and then rebuy. (they did turn blue in case you ask, but no core on the other side emerged)
I saw one once on entering Titan in open, other CMDRs there shooting at it but by the time I got there I was at rebuy due to millions Goids and turrets all shooting at me.

Tried open as same in solo, twice - same thing.

And there are Glaives in inter and hyperdictions. Both on the way to Taranis and at the Titan.

Any time I manage to get to the titan, it's glitched and not working properly. Don't think I've managed to actually do any damage to the "hearts" so probably won't get the decals, etc. which is just frustrating as it's nothing that I can control...

AX missile are better, in solo runs with 3x AXMC i did an average 850 k cr per run, swapped to 3x AX Missiles and now each run is an average 1.3 M cr.

I use a single 2D Beam LR/TV to stay cold as ice even in silent run mode.

My tactic is simple,

START: When you reach the edge of the asteroid field, you can see the Titan Heat Vent, activate Silent Running and move straight to the Titan, use the Beam LR/TV to avoid overheat, stealth approach... stay in Silent Run and use Beam while waiting the vent opening, as soon the vent open, turn off silent running and start the bomb run.

THE RUN: During the bomb run do not worry about heating up so: boost, aim vent, torpedo away, boost to next, repeat... alone i do 6 of 8 with a Krait Mk2, better pilots of me can complete all eight, i think.

hint: do no boost direct to next vent, instead aim with a bit offset so you can drift for an easier aim/torpedo and avoid collisions, with of without flight assist off, anyway the boost will give you the right "momentum".

As soon you see the next vent close (no smoke and vent folded) or hit all eight, move under the Titan, do NOT wait the message.

THE STRIKE: Next is the opportunity window on the "pineapple" heart, initially i used the AXMC and an Heat Sink was necessary to dissipate the heat, but... with 3x Missile Rack and 1x Beam TV the heat is no more an issue, when the titan heart retact you are at near zero heat and ready to boost away to avoid the titan retaliation.

i used a Krait Mk2 with 3x AX Missile 1x Beam LR/TV and 1x NanTorpedo, you can use 4x AX Missile for extra damage but i prefer the silent run "safe mode" with LR/TV Beam "support".

RECOVERY TIME: during the titan "angry phase", prepare for next run! Use a Repair Limpet as soon the hull have few % point of damage, do not wait, repair over time even while moving and striking the titan, and use an AFMU while getting in position for next run.

my 2 cents :)
