Quit gaming it.

I think the major problem I see when reading complaints about ED is that people are trying to game a game that's meant to be an experience. And when gaming it doesn't work they don't know what's wrong.

Go out there, and experience it. Don't game it.

wonderfully said my friend, i agree 101%. i realized that too a while ago. it is not a game with a goal. it is an experience all along. enjoy the trip, not the destination.

Yes!
I did paid support for a number of EU MMOs, players would ask for equations and actual code on a regular basis.

I wish you were a dev, Squire Ryan. You're dead on.

thanks, after 30 years of gaming i think that i sometimes forget this.
i did buy elite to experience it, but the gamer in me sometimes leaks through,

next time i end up in a balance discussion i will try and pinch myself and think about your post.

Very eloquently said CMDR have some rep, I keep saying it's about the trip not the destination. Glad to see this in a sea of negativity on the forums.

Be that as it may, I STILL want to know how I can unlock purple gear ASAP. I need that to max out my toon's level pronto and show all the noobs who's boss!

Ouch. That kinda hurt to read.

I do have to wonder who doesn't find this to be an experience. Haven't any of these people taken a 10 or so jump journey? Seeing a bit of the galaxy, watching the traffic die off, and going where no man has gone before is definitely a ride worth taking and I haven't thought of the mechanics behind it all once after that.

I think there's a large grain of truth in this. But I also think that the experience lacks sufficient depth even when you don't game it. Hopefully this will come with time.

great post, and most likely true, I don't think these guys realize the potential or the subtleties of this game, or as you put it to experience it. Having said that I think it is time we stopped caring about those who complain about how "they just don't like it", I understand bug reporting, that is important, I get making sensible suggestions. However most of these posts are just guys saying they don't like the game or they think it will fail because they can't play it, or it doesn't fit what they imagined it would be.

Lets stop indulging them, they sound like my 4 year old, vying for attention, if they don't like the game......stop playing it and move on, I have bought many games I thought would be good but end up disappointing, I just wrote it off and moved on. They should do the same and we should just not reply to the incessant attention seeking.

It will just give us more time to enjoy what I truly believe is the best game ever made (even with the bugs) and it is the sequel to what was the best game ever made ;-)

Nice one Jeff, deserve the rep.
Is your surname Vadar by any chance? (I hope you've seen the deathstar canteen sketch)
