It's a space SIM with guns and ships that blow up. It also allows other players to attack one another. This form of gameplay was intended to add to the depth and to back up the word Dangerous in the title if the game. It also comes from PC where smart gamers are born. Console players just want another call of duky handout. You will also notice that the rating of games like this usually say "gameplay experience my change during online play". Not to mention in the TOS it says the same thing.
I believe we can all sympathize with OP's point about insurance cost. However, this thread hasn't really been about that for a long while now. As its collecting a lot of flaming/trolling/general sniping posts I'm going to close this.
