General / Off-Topic RCTWorld General Discussion

Yes that's what I feel it is, it was made by coders, very obvious. So only they know how to use it properly.

What they need is a designer and a user interface pro (not just to place out a gui, but actually know what people tend to use and how to make a good user friendly interface, psychology involved) and maybe kick out Atari and hire more people OR extend 1-2 more years.

I do not think the Nvizzio guys are bad, I think they can do it, but they need more people with specific knowledge area like I said above.

it is there own fault.

The guy from Nvizzio seemed to be pretty aggressive about the whole thing, especially when he was talking about the feedback.

Don't want feedback? Don't make video games.

you can understand their frustration, they did something they thought was great and had massive amounts of negativity about it, I am not saying they should not just take that sort of thing on the chin rather than be aggressive but its understandable

It's all about coaster builder on the live streams, it's so boring and all they do is take agessss to build a tiny bit of the track... Why don't they just show us other features, even if it's not completely finished. Their coaster builder is quite hard to built with and I hope the coaster builder gets less complex.Planet coasters builder is much more similar to a game Frontier released a few years back called Coaster Crazy. Seems much easier.

looking at rct3's Facebook, they aren't even taking back feedback.. They're just making sarcastic jokes <snip>

In Atari's marketing world it's a good idea to essentially say that most of your customers are too stupid to use your software.

*sigh*

I just used the emergency exit on the ride on the other side and got a refund trough Steam. I could write another lengthy story about it, but that won't add anything we haven't already discussed. I know some of you are also on the other side forum, and I'm sure you've read discussions over there as well.

I still wish Atari and especially Nvizzio the best, but currently my faith has dropped below an acceptable rate. If a miracle happens, I will return to that ride, and I hope that miracle will happen. For now, I will remain active on the other side, but watching and waving from the sideline instead of 'on the ride'.

I'm now switching to happy mode: think of Planet Coaster things! [big grin]

Overall I somewhat liked RCTW beta, but there is a lot of work to be done. I really like the Planet Coaster trailer and it put my hopes up high...too. We shall see and I hope they both make all the nay-sayers eat their words.

Ohhh, it seems they changed the colision system. Now you can put everything everywhere ?

I remember during the beta, any objects was in red because you cannot put a tree too close to another one (because of the large colision boxes).
Apparently, It's possible to set the bushes side-by-side now.

Good news if it's true !

I'm looking at their photos and there are some problems.

Firstly, where are all the people? The park looks pretty big and I only see a few people comming through, thats less than RCT3 which was made years ago!

Secondly, the photo looks oversaturated the grass looks like setup for the photo and its way overdone, there also showing no Roller Coasters which makes zero sense (hence the name)

Thirdly, the engines capabilities, Unity is great on games that are setup but not good on big games where you can build and thousands upon thousands of guests are rolling through, however Planet Coaster uses the COBRA engine that is heavily modified and is specifically designed to handle this many peeps.

Not to mention their Top 20 coasters, when they were riding it was so choppy it felt like a stop motion, plus the coaster builder is absolutely terrible so it wasn't top notch roller coaster designs, in Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 (RELESED IN 2004!!!) The coaster builder was fantastically made, and you could make any type of coaster you wanted.
Now the 3D building system is absolutely terrible and not usable at all.

Not to mention the amount of negativity they have right now.

Looking at screenshots or videos, I feel it lacks soul.

Yes RCTW lacks a soul at the moment imo. But the latest picture does look nice. I'm looking forward to the management part, the guest AI and animation of the entire game.
