I have had a browse on the Atari forum and there is a lot of animosity on there a.t.m. because things are not going well for RCTW. It is a shame really and to be honest I feel it for Nivizzio rather than Atari. I think Atari may be putting quite a bit of pressure on the dev team, to get things sorted fast. This must make the dev team a little nervous and being under pressure are trying to pull out all the stops to get the game up to standards.
They are receiving lots of flak on the Atari forum and also on youtube and facebook, so this too is not helping the dev team to feel very confident. When you are working against the clock in a situation like this, your enthusiasm must start to deteriorate when under pressure and I think this could be the case. We don't really know, but that's my opinion. Plus, Niivizzio know, that Frontier are hot on their heels and are getting some pretty positive results, so this too must be playing on their minds. They also know that Frontier have more experience with this type of game.
Whether any planned water rides were going to be part of the first game release or not, we don't know, but maybe they were going to add these, but because of all the problems and set backs with the coaster builder, decided to drop them, because they were running out of time. Even the guests in their game have been another issue, because it seems that these were left for dealing with, towards the end of the game, whereas, Frontier have dealt with the guests from the start and made a pretty good job of them too.
I think we were all looking forward to two great games, but I have my doubts that we are not really going to see this with RCTW at the end of the day.
As for Planet Coaster and Frontier, we are at least confident that we are going to get a decent game, with the new look everything that Frontier is putting into it. They don't have a publisher, looking over their shoulder, they gave us RCT3 and they know that they can do better with advanced technology, and so far they are delivering. We may not have seen any proper game play yet, but at least we know that the game is being developed with passion and commitment and dedication in everything about how they are designing it and that makes us all very happy. If we are happy, then this must make Frontier happy too. Frontier have built up a relationship with the community and their aim is to give us the best game possible. They are all working very hard and I am very pleased about it.
But for the sakes of Nivizzio I do hope they can at least get out a decent game, I'm not saying it will be better than Planet Coaster, but if it looks promising by March, then I think they will gain the support they had at the beginning.
