General / Off-Topic RCTWorld General Discussion

The Steam discussion has apparently gotten so bad and toxic that ATARI will be "cleansing" it soon. Too bad they can't cleanse those reviews! [squeeeeee]

Yes. 25% positive in the last 30 days. Remember when the fans were celebrating the new steam review system so the new reviews would show better than the overall 35% positive?

I guess there are two ways to decide if a game is really bad or not:

1) Argue about it endlessly and hurl rocks at each other...

2) Look at the stats. Are most people playing it? No. Are most people happy with it? No. Is it selling? No.

Anyone who thinks the game is good right now, has at least 60,000 other owners very ready to strongly disagree.

Cleansing the forum and steam won't solve the underlying issue, it will just remove 75% of those that care to share their opinion. But to improve, those unpleasant opinions, however angry and rude they may be, need listening too.

The only people that are still clinging to this game are the ones who've spent hundreds of hours and are having a hard time letting go of that time wasted. They'll keep clinging on to a false sense of hope that with each update it will eventually get better (as it apparently gets worse) while 98% of us are sitting here going,

RCTW needs a train to go w/ the train wreck that it is... Oh yeah... that's right... still no transport rides... I'm still betting we'll see a train in PC loooooooooong before we see one for RCTW... I'll bet good money on it... a gentlemen's bet... $1.00 just like in the movie trading places...

The irony being, of course, that had Atari just considered only the opinions of those who passively accepted the crap that was served up you would have seen barely any of the updates or improvements currently being attempted.

So true - in their quest to silence 'negative comments' they're actually removing the comments that would have the most positive effect on the game. Although it's not as if they really need any comments. Every single person involved must know what the problems are and why. It's totally apparent to me that they're chasing publicity by adding exciting stuff as frankly new features are easier and cheaper than gutting the entire game to fix the core problems.

The game is broken from the ground up. It won't ever be 'right' no matter how much they adapt and tinker with what they created. And now I think the entire game is built upon the rotten core.

I'm almost certain they'll add transport rides to RCTW. It wouldn't be all that difficult to do for them now as the AI is so god awful it's pretty much just going to be a rollercoaster in disguise that just dumps peeps at a different station to the one they got on. Because they don't have peep groups to contend with like RCT3 and RCTW this only makes it easier for them to implement, they'll then be able to add a little tick on their feature list which is all they seem concerned about now.

Transport rides in Planet Coaster are a different kettle of fish compared to what RCTW will get. The developers have said guests will actually use the transport rides as a mode of transport to get to different areas of the park, not just ride them randomly like they used to in RCT3 and I suspect RCTW. This is why I'm actually really excited for transport rides in Planet Coaster, and yet couldn't care less about the ones in RCTW [happy]

Exactly, to fix the real issues in RCTW would require such a radical rework of the game that it would just end up a totally different game all together. If they ever went as far as to fix all of the shoddiness (which they won't) they may as well market it as a separate game as the RCTW brand is mud now anyway

The bet should be if transport rides will be in the expansion pack, wouldn't that be a hoot [tongue]

Hi Tycoons!!

As some of you have cleverly spotted, a certain German article referred to us finally making the step you have all been waiting for - we're moving towards the end of early access and towards full release! Your patience and support has been vital to us getting to this point, and we look forwards to sharing the exciting highlights of our final update with you, along with the final release date #soon!

We can also announce, that due to continued demand we have a planned expansion pack in the works! We have collaborated with Six Flags and they have been incredibly involved. Their input will take this game to a new level and we're sure you're ready for that ride. As a result of their passion, and feedback from you all, asking that we make a good job of the next step, we have decided to consult with Six Flags further and aim to move our planned transport rides and water rides into the Six Flags expansion.

We hope you enjoy this devblog - it is short because as you can probably guess we're very busy right now delivering you the best final chapter to this game we can. But we will be releasing a new devblog very shortly to tell you all about our plans in more detail!

All the best,

The RCTW team.

I'm speechless.

Partly because I was expecting it but also partly because of the fact they're still trying to take people's money. The sad thing is they are getting it, and I just feel bad for all those victims of Atari's scandalous behaviour, but what can you do? After seeing their outright copy-cat piece-by-piece system in action I now understand why Frontier are keeping water rides etc. under wraps. But also, sadly, why RCTW's aren't coming until an expansion pack... I know there's no competition between them anyway but it's the innocent victims of Atari's law-bending that I just have to feel so sorry for.

Yes! Exactly!

But also, I just made all that up. And you believed it because that's EXACTLY how easy it is to say something, when you have nothing. Just shows how easy it is to twist a negative into a positive huh? :)

Yep, you got me.

But let's be fair, it's gonna happen soon.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they stole your exact wording.

Yea I imagine so in some form. different words/promises/heavily disguised excuses. But history suggests that a delay or change of ambition will in some way be dealt with by being presented as a sensible or progressive choice - to the benefit of the players.

It just keeps happening.

We can also announce, that due to continued demand we have a planned expansion pack in the works! We have collaborated with Six Flags and they have been incredibly involved. Their input will take this game to a new lower level and we're sure you're ready for that ride. As a result of their passion, and feedback from you all, asking that we make a average job of the next step, we have decided to consult with Six Flags further and aim to move our planned transport rides, water rides, updated peep animations, aliasing and collision fixes and everything else into the Six Flags expansion.

We hope you enjoy this devblog - it is short because we don't really care, but as you can probably guess we're very busy right now trying to get as many people to buy the game by delivering you the shoddiest final chapter to this game we can. But we will be releasing a new devblog very shortly to tell you all about our retirement plans in more detail!

Fixed it - I mean maybe they may be more honest from here on... LOL

I doubt transport rides won't be there for final release, considering that they promised they would come out during EA.

Remember the list?
https://forum.rollercoastertycoon.c...ter-Tycoon-World-Coming-to-Steam-Early-Access!

Time will tell though. Either way, it seems you guys are getting a good kick out of it. It reminds me of why I stayed out of this thread for so long, sometimes I feel you guys go a bit too far. -- But humour is humour. I just find it hard to see the funny side on this one. [yesnod] My mistake on taking this for a serious thread.

I do not know why I care so much.

Bitter Jeweler I know you have the game, would you mind starting it through CommandPrompt to see if there are any warnings or errors? I believe launching the executable should be enough for logs to appear. If you don't want to, I'll just see if someone on the RCTW forums wants to do it.

Because you do. [yesnod]
And that's OK.

I'm confused... What do you mean by that? Deuce's profile says he has 139 posts. But if I'm honest that seems a bit low... [blah]
