Read this if you want to increase performance of xbox & Elite Dangerous

I bought a (Seagate 1TB/8GB 2.5" Solid State Hybrid Drive, S-ATA 6Gb/s, 64MB, SSHD) for £45 on ebay also bought a (2.5" External HDD SSD Hard Disk Drive Enclosure Case Caddy SATA USB 3.0 i think i paid about £6 for this) then connected it to the usb3 port on my exbox & transferred all my games on to it. The difference in performance is very good elite loads much faster there is very little lag when buying weapons etc, also xbox runs much faster. Hybrid combines both ssd and hdd where the ssd is used as a cache between disk and ram these drives are usually cheaper than normal ssd.
If anyone wants to try this search ebay or message me for links
here is a link for the seagate drive on their website http://www.seagate.com/gb/en/intern...state-hybrid/laptop-solid-state-hybrid-drive/

website that tested ssd drives on xbox http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-should-you-upgrade-your-xbox-one-with-an-ssd

also you will have 1 Terabyte of space for games

Now i think of it, im playing form a SSHD as well.. I also have less crashes and issues then some other people here.

Might indeed be related.

Yes, utilizing an external hard drive can definitely increase speed and performance, pending what you purchase.

Are these external harddrives easy to hook up to your xbox one? I was looking at the (click link below)

and wondering if this was a good choice.

fantastic have just bought a 4 tb external hd for my xbox one. am now going to install elite on it after your tip :D

I don't think the fact that he is using an external HDD is why he's getting better performance. It's the type of external HDD he is using that was the point. I had my copy of ED on my external HDD and I still got buzz crashes a lot. It's on my Xb1's internal drive and there hasn't been an improvement.

It's the fact that he's using a hybrid drive, and others saying they are using SSD's as well. They do improve loading times, but I dunno about anything beyond that.

I have an SSD in an external case since the feature has been introduced to preview members (I'm no longer a preview member).

It varies from game to game but in some instances it's literally night and day.

Edit: I never tested with ED but although the game has inconsistent performance I get very few buzz crashes. Could be related (some people experience them A LOT).

Even just a bog standard 5400rpm USB 3.0 HDD is faster than the Xbox's stock internal HDD. The internal HDD uses SATA2. Which is old and slow.

Yes anything current will be faster than the Stock HDD, part of me wonders why they didn't put something half decent in the XB1, probably to keep the price down.

The issue is not with SATA2 but with the 2.5 notebook 5400rpm drive.

Those are basically the crappiest drive one can get.

I have the elite version of the console with a hybrid drive and prior to last week's patch had plenty of the dreaded buzz crash's.

Only had one since the patch

Touching all types of wood now in case I have jinxed it
