Yes, but 70% is more if you want to play it that way.
I'm not playing it that way. 70% is very important and it's important that FD respects your votes.

However that doesn't mean you should ignore everyone else either.

In a nutshell, all I want to know is that I'm still being heard and treated equally whether my opinion is in the majority or not.

So tired of seeing people moaning about this. seems the instant gratification crowd cannot accept a poll even when its 70% against them.
its a done deal, we have better things to talk about. either use it or don't.

If you took an actual poll of everyone the numbers would be drastically altered.

This is the point - FD did take a poll of everyone who owns the game. Some 38,000 people with valid accounts responded (and almost 2000 who didn't ....). The rest either chose not to respond, or didn't read the mail in time to respond, but everyone was asked and given the opportunity to vote. The only thing FD could have done more was to extend the poll for more time.

That you don't like the result really is your problem.

And if we were to attempt polling everyone who doesn't own the game, well, I don't think FDev's ISP would appreciate it if we tried to mass e-mail every address on the planet.

And besides people who don't own the game have no stake in it, so why would they care what we do with it and why would we care what they think? :p

Ok everyone, in order to lay this topic to rest, i took out my crystal ball, read the tarots, and cross checked against the tea leaves.

This is what they tell me:

FD will slightly lower the transfer times, but i think, if that small bit of tea leaf on the left is telling me what i think it is, that the times for long distances will remain very high. Costs will be adjusted significantly though, especially over longer distances.

In terms of players, the following will happen.

1 person will stop playing ED in incandencent rage over not getting what they wanted.

The rest of the 30% will continue playing. 1% will never ever use the ship transfer feature on principle, even when it would benefit them to do it. 19% will use it, but never admit to it, or grudgingly admit they did it, but only because it was an edge case and didn't count, and its still useless based on their case study of flying everywhere in a 60LY Anaconda (which they may not even own, but its the principle damnit!). The other 10% will use it, because, well, you know, its actually useful. Some won't advertise they are doing so though, but some will publicly say "Gosh, i was wrong, this ship transfer feature is actually damn useful! I can do other things while waiting for my ships to arrive".

There is some room for error of course. I mean, i'm sure the Death card shouldn't be coming up so often! :p

His assumption that the results would be drasically different is also highly speculative and downright assumption based on his own feelings, and not based on anything in reality. ;)

There is a distinct difference between wanting Instant Transfer, to believing the current model has the times right. There is no all or nothing here. If a good argument was made for shorter times, that doesn't invalidate the vote. It just brings an opinion to FD's attention. That is why stuff gets tested and discussed. Cool, the Delay won, but there is still room to er over how long the delay is, and how it's calculated.

Winning a vote doesn't confer the right to dominate the subject completely. Consider how much time is right, not just what side won the vote. Sore winners and all.

I'd like to see how badly people would have complained if they didn't make a big deal about it and put any sort of poll about wait times. Lets see how the gameplay would have played out. I'm willing to bet nobody would have been harmed in the instant transfer era.

The only thing that would have been harmed would be fragile egos, the game would continue and people's quality of life would have been fantastic. People would have been able to play the way they want when they want. Instead now people get to twiddle their thumbs and or come back the next day to do what they want.

Thanks Obama.

Agreed, But Colonel is one of the few people that WILL NEVER, accept Delays, because even though he has his point and majority voted against it.. he is far gone into the instant stuff to back down now, without afecting his EGO... Basicaly he wornout the game for himself because he was/is an extremist... like choosing a team... if my team is not right Frak yours...

Transfer is useless right now. completely useless. It seems to take 3-4 times longer to transfer then just doing it your self making it useless.

I really would love to hear your technique for moving five ships, four of which have ~15LY of jump range, to a station 170LY away in under 30 minutes. This should be quite interesting. :D

Can you get all your ships to your new base using just a taxi hauler bought and kitted every time you go back and collect one of them in the same time they transfer over to you all at once?

I think not..

Oh look. 70% say no to reduction in waiting...

How many more polls will be opened before the minority gets the memo?

Sorry, lemmie find that post two pages ago where everyone on the "instant gratification" side generalized everyone and were always toxic?

Also, you have the option of ignoring the topic.

Thank you. Oh my god. Thank you for stating this.

I nominate you for most awesome person on this forum.

Absoloutely agree.... but then you get comments like this, that make it seem as though some people cannot move on....

Transfer is useless right now. completely useless. It seems to take 3-4 times longer to transfer then just doing it your self making it useless.

Especially when their statement is completely erroneous, except for some edge cases like Jaques.

"The majority is seldom right..." says a guy on another post...

But when they want to say that the pools are wrong because thats not 100% of the players....

they always talk about "silent majority"

GO FIGURES!

Ladies and Gentlemen, the question has been asked, and we are now offering odds on this.

1 at 10:1
2 at 5:1
3 at 3:1
4 at 2:1
5 at evens

(So as to not run foul of any anti-gambling rules on the forums, all bets are null and void, thanks for your understanding ;))
