At home now. The filename EliteOCR gives the .csv-files looks like:

"HIP 114709.Nakamura Station.2015-02-19T23.19.37.csv"

seems, that there is all info included, that is needed for import...

I agree in principle, but it needs a seperate modified scan and import routine. Before this i want to change the database structure of station commodity prices.
At the moment, each station has 80 database entries for commodities, many entries for commodities not traded at the station. I want to cut this to only these commodities, that are traded. So in addition to that i want to allow to record stations without any commodity database entry. That allows me to raise the initial database from 5 recorded stations atm to several thousands. The difficulty is to transform the existing data, you and others have gathered, into this new scheme without a loss.

When entering data for a new star system, where to find the coordinates for that system?

When arriving at an unrecorded star system, you have to add it to your database via Database > Stars. The star system name will be automatically added into the appropriate field. Your task is now to enter the distances to the four reference star systems (Sol, Wyrd, Vega and Loga), that are displayed. Feel free to change these, if you like. Open the galaxy map of ED and select Navigation and type the first system (Sol) into the search box. The galaxy map jumps to the star system and displays the distance next to it. Type this value into the distance field next to the selected star sýstem of the Star System panel of TCE and press enter. Repeat this until all distance fields have their corresponding values. Now you will see a SAVE button next to the HIDE button. Click it and the new star system is stored into your database.

The exact coordinates are generated through the four distances to the reference star systems.

Sounds good! But as this project is still in development, I suggest to avoid conversion of existing databases and go straight into a new database structure. If there is any demand, you can maybe add a simple external tool, which converts the data.
BTW: the trade advisor just suggests only the second best commodity in the return path.

It's probably buried in here somewhere, but when I try to run it, Excel wants me to connect a smart card and won't run the macro, no matter what trust settings I choose. I did the installer version.

Update (V1.35) released:
- Optimizations and fixes for all panels.
- New Panel Control for adjusting all panels in X, Y and zoom-level. It is found in the Control menu and added a new Panel.mdb, because it gets a new structure. You have to adjust all panel to the desired position again, sorry. The old Panel.mdb will be overwritten.
- Options panel moved to Control menu, a Ship Logbook button replaces the Options panel button.
- Added Clipboard text for destination stations.
- Bugfix for EliteOCR working directory.
- Locking Stations database and Cartography button, when the star system is not in the database.
- Commodity button lock, until you are at a recorded station.
- A Donate button, if someone want to support TCE.

I think you mean the Trade Scout, right? The Trade Scout gets a complete overhaul.

What version of excel you are using? If TCE didnt start, TCE is not the problem.

With the new version i get:
"Laufzeitfehler 380. Eigenschaftswert Zoom konnte nicht gesetzt werden. Geben Sie einen Wert von 10 bis 400 ein"

Debugger jumps to "If Main_Panel = "TOP" Then
Panel_Menu_top.Zoom = Worksheets("DB_Positions").Cells(2, 5).Value

1.34 worked fine ;-)

Please check, if you have the new Panel.mdb in the DB folder, here it looks like:

Hmm... is there the TCE.cer file in the TCE folder missing? You can add the certificate manually via doubleclick on TCE.cer > Install Certificate. It should be added into the following areas: TrustedPublisher, TrustedRoot and Intermediate. After installation please check the following: Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Content Tab > Certificates

There should be a entry for TCE in TrustedPublisher, TrustedRoot and Intermediate.

After manually installing the certificates, I can launch TCE

Clicking on Hide, a portion of the 'ship log' panel is still visible

running at 1920*1080

Nice work on the update ;) will give it a go shortly.
I prefer that It no longer auto-zooms, looks much better @ 2560x1600 IMO.

Update (V1.35a) released:
- Hotfix for Control menu and Hide button.

Note: Do not overwrite the Panel.mdb again, if you used V1.35 before and adjusted the panels.

Thanks eventure, didn't realise it was automatic. Was taking cords from the galactic map which didn't look right at all.
Will definitely use your donate feature when added.
This tool is amazing, found myself a nice 2,300 per tonne profit round trip 26ly each way.

Just downloaded and started trying to use this amazing looking tool. I have one blocker... Logged into teh game and docked at a station unknown to the tool. Figured out how to add the station (nice and easy) but even now, with the station created and showing up in the "Trade" window, I can't get the Commodity window to display.

Will try undocking and docking again to see what happens and report back in a few minutes.

OK, here's what I tried.
1) Launch, clear pad, re-dock
2) Launch, enter Super Cruise, fly around a bit, return to station and dock
3) Hyperspace to adjacent star system, return and dock

After each test, I saw the same behaviour, i.e. when I click the Commodities database button, nothing happens.

If I go into the control interface I can toggle the window on and off, and reposition it, but it has no dynamic content displayed.

Edit: Just spotted another clue - according to the main menu, I am still near the system's primary star.

Right - just relaunched TCE and it has picked up my location, docked. Still no joy accessing the Commodities database. Also, despite it being installed and working standalone, OCR isn't returning any results for some reason. :(

Not sure about 1.35 but in 1.34, the commodity database option is currently disabled. As for ocr results, assuming you have eliteocr installed correctly, what resolution are you running?,Have you temp disabled any head tracking and have you disabled gui effects and have you set the hud colour back to default Orange ? All of these things affect Eliteocr accuracy / function.

You may want to enable ocr debugging and posting the error message here if there is one.

Not tried it yet but you say we need Excel, as I recall when my old man did stuff in exce he was able to package it with a run time library so it
could be used on machines without excel installed, maybe worth ooking into :)

Well I assume my graphics settings are OK - when I run EliteOCR standalone, it reads reliably from my screenshots. Default colours, no head tracking... GUI effects may be on but not interfering with OCR standalone. Resolution is fine - 1680 x 1050.

If the database option is disabled, that a good explanation. Now just puzzled by OCR...

How does it work when it works? Is it just click the Start OCR button and the trade values appear?

Going to bed now but will check this thread tomorrow. :)

Having glanced at the code, I suspect that a runtime library won't cut it... It probably needs the full VBA environment.

Nice suggestion though. :)
