Abandoned [RELEASE] Trade Computer Extension

In Beta2 I'm now successfully adding commodities to unregistered stations.

BTW, after I play extensively with ETC this weekend, would you like me to write a user-friendly guide to installing and using it? I can post it in the guides forum and you can link to it in the OP. It might be Wednesday before I can finish it and post the first version.

This would be really helpful. Thanks in advance.

Beta 2 Usability Feedback:

The Ship Logbook panel is by default set a bit too low in a borderless 1920x1080 system. The default Y coordinate is 872 (roughly), but that pushes the logbook panel into a barely visible position. I'd recommend setting the default Y coordinate to something like 600. That's a bit high, but users can see it clearly and adjust from there.

Ok, so until the next major update we use (3,4) ?

and I had assumed that STELLAR BODY was the number of planets... in the system, but now I'm not so sure !

Could you clarify the use of that particular entry please.

Installing beta 2 now :) Thanks !

Next up: Office 365 does not like the certificates made by your prestart.bat. File. You get the typical "Macros were blocked" message, and the ONLY thing that enables your XSLM to fully start successfully (in Excel 365), is to go into the trust center and fully enable ALL macros. Which is pretty risky. I could find no way to enable only your XSLM that would not require a blanket drop in security.

Had the same problem with Excel 2013 until I read one of the previous post that said to install the certificate as Root.
So in Excel when you get that first popup, you can click a link to see the certificate and from there you can install it as Trusted Root.

I do not know if it was necessary but I did it for both local and current user and haven't had that problem since.
It runs with Enable Trusted Macros only.

Done, using 1920x1200.

The Stellar Body number is the position ID of a station in the star system. So it is possible to find the right station for your position in a system.

Please try to change the separator setting in excels options to comma for decimal and point for thousands, tell me, if something changes.

Too bad it was just perfect placemetn on 1920x1800 ! Hooo well the needs of the many ... lol

Sorry but where would I find this ? I've looked in the system map but could not find an entry with that name on the planet or the station.

(food for the user guide :))

its logged in the NetLog file, when you arrive at a location. Therefore station registration is only possible, when you are present.

Again, could you please try to change the separator setting in excels options to comma for decimal and point for thousands, to tell me, if something changes, when adding a new star system. Preparing an update for this issue.

Beta 2 update, 1 star system added(with 3.4 format), 1 station added (with 3.4 format), all commodities scanned and saved ! NO Problems !!! :)

Back in a few min with results from change.

Good to hear, please could you look in the TCE.mdb at the Stars table after your newly added station. My coordinates are all with commas, your too and the new one also?

@Eventure - I am using English language throughout

Thanks for your feedback, i thought so and it looks like a language issue between the excel versions.

Everything is in english here too.

Ok, I set excel to format 1.000,00

Saved a new Star System using that same format. Check
Saved a new station using that same format. Check

Save a new Star System using some number in 1,000.00 and some in 1.000,00 format. Check
Saved a new station using some number in 1,000.00 and some in 1.000,00 format. Check

No problems so far, I'm impressed !

Opened TCE.mdb

both system's coordinated in format 10.00 :)

But in the Stations tab, the second system I had entered the distance to station as 1.241,00 is saved as 1.241

Beta2: Visted and registered about 5 different non-registered systems so far. Updated commodities for about a dozen stations. Added some "note" in Cartography for some of the visited systems. No crashes and all major functionality seems to be working fine: Trade Scout, Trade, setting specific Destinations, etc.

BTW, this is the first time I've tried TCE and... wow. Seriously nice job. This creates a really immersive "trade magnate" experience. I love the crowdsourced tools like Slopey's, etc., but I love that this is a personal extension to the game and enables trading the way the devs probably intended it. It takes the 14th century manual ledger and handwritten notes out of the game experience and put it right in the UI where it should be with some software that---gasp---figures out trade profits for you and recommends basic "from here" or "best 2-way in your list of explored systems" trade options for you. You know, like we'd expect a ship in the 34th century to do at a bare minimum.

Much kudos and rep to you!

BTW now that I've sussed out the basics, I think I might be able to get that guide written by Sunday or Monday at latest.

Hope so too. Thanks for your help.

Revert back the separator setting to normal and try the beta 3.

Update (V1.36 beta 3) released:
- Moddified save routine for star systems
- Minor UI tweaks.

Note: If you got errors with beta 3, you hadn't in beta 2, please revert back to beta 2 for the moment.

Still in Beta 2, not sure whether to try in Beta 3.

I found my first system that triggered the Add Star panel, which need the four reference system (SOL, VEGA, etc) distances to calculate the XYZ coords. Entered all values in USA format such as 193.23 Ly, and it crashed the TCE entirely. Got a message about reference range but didn't see a debug option. Will try again in a bit with Beta 2 to see if I can get debug info somehow, unless you advise to just try with Beta 3 instead.

Please try beta 3 for this issue. Beta 3 prevents excel crashing, so i hope.

Importing old values into new schema

Soo... Been using TCE for a little while, and so have added a small number of systems etc. in that DB.

I just DLed Beta 3 of 1.36 and replaced the TCE database. Of course that knocked out all my personally added data. No worries, thinks I, and crank up MS Access and was going to hack around with the data in excel to add in my unique database entries. That's where I got confused... It seems that the co-ordinates for the stars have changed. For example:

New TCE.mdb: 1 G. CAELI 80.906 -83.531 -30.812
Old TCE.mdb: 1 G. CAELI 50065.9 40901.4 24074.1

What gives? How can I get my personal data from the backup into the new DB?

Working at an import routine for old databases. Non-beta will have it. Now all coordinates are SOL centric (0,0,0).
Did you encounter crashes with the adding of new star systems? What language of excel you are using?

Superb. Look forward to that.

Didn't try tbh and logged out now for the night and waiting for a rare goods respawn in a station over 500LS from the jump-in point. :(

Will try next time I'm playing - probably tomorrow evening, and let you know.

Beta 3 has a different problem with adding stars:

Error Line: 30

AzStars: 22378Error: (-2147417848 Method 'Cells' of object '_Worksheet' failed.

No option to get into debug mode for more info, sorry.

No problem, debug is offline for this routine, because of crashing.

Update (V1.36 beta 4) released:
- Another moddified save routine for the star systems issue.
