Something odd happening this morning with beta 7......
View attachment 29025
When I first arrived at this station TCE thought it was the station next door to this (in system). I edited the station info to the correct data, scanned commodity prices , then left for another system. When I came back to this system I dropped into the space around the station next door, TCE reported the correct location. Then I popped over here (in system) and TCE has forgotten all the info about this station.:(

Does this mean my database is pooched?
Any updates on that separate DB checking tool?

Thanks for your help:)

I was having the same problem and it was caused by one of the earlier version saving with the wrong Body id in the db.

beta 7 and 8 are ok thought.

And your db is easy to fix, but you have to do it while you are at the station.
(I don't know any other way to figure out the proper Body/Sector number.)

When you approach one of these stations that you know you've saved but TCE shows you a SECTOR #
- note it down
- click on CURRENT POSITION
- select the proper station in the list
- in the tool click MODIFY TRADE STATION or EDIT REGISTERED STATION in the classic UI
- change the SYSTEM SECTOR # for the one you noted down.
- SAVE

The Panel will still say SELECTED POSITION instead of CURRENT POSITION until you jump out,
but The next time you come to this station everything will be back to normal.

ALSO

If you are unlucky and the wrong number ended up beign the same SECTOR # as another station.
What will happen is that TCE will show you the wrong station !

You can follow the steps above and look in your log file to find the SYSTEM # :
You can look at your latest NetLog file. There you will find rows showing like this : {15:51:18} System:16(63 G. Capricorni) Body:19 Pos:(525.347,211.185,-824.264)

TCE is looking after the systemname and the body id, to find the right station. The systemname is converted into the StarID. Both StarID and BodyID found have to be equal with the trade station entry of your database.

Another way to fix this is to visit this station twice.
The first time, when you see the wrong station name, follow the steps above
Since you do not have the proper body number just put 999.
Go about your business.
When you come back to this station, TCE will now show you the proper number
and you can follow the steps above to complete the process.

I had abit of trouble getting this tool to work for me.
1) Framerate dropped from close to 300fps... down to 60fps... sluggish!
2) Didn't work across my two monitors, couldn't move panels to desired position. Half on one screen, half on the other.
3) Main options up top didn't size to fit on my max display at 1680x1050.
4) Using DisplayFusion to manage my 2 screens.. crashed windows, had to hard-reset.
5) Compatible with Office 2010? Lots of index errors.
I might have to have a fiddle when I've got more time with it, but found it abit frustrating to configure.

1) No Idea about the frame rate, I did not encounter this myself or read of anybody else experiencing anything similar.

2) Use negative number to move the panes to a second monitor on the left.
Large positive numbers to move them to the right.
If both monitors do not have the same resolution,
make sure you adjust the Y position also !
Otherwise the panel might disappear "above or bellow" your other monitor's viewing area.

3) There is a % value exactly for that purpose.

4) Haven't tried that, can't help.

5) Have you installed Microsoft Access 2010 Runtime ???
(make very sure you install the proper x86 or x64 the same as your version of Office !!!)
It is required, as stated on the first page of this post and on Yokai's guide !

Hopefully somebody else will be able to help with 1 and 4

@Eventure

There is still a bit of a problem with the PANEL CONTROL

If you leave the cursor in the ZOOM box for MAIN MENU/DATABASE
when you close the PANEL POSITIONS panel

it changes the zoom of the MAIN MENU/DATABASE panel (the icons) to 300%

To make matters worst, when it is setup all the way to the right, like mine,
blowing it up like that makes it jump completely off the screen !
Took me a few edits of the Panel.mdb to figure that one out lol

Eventure can you give me a quick explanation of the FTP option, I have connected to and uploaded my DB to FTP using the buttons in the addon so now if I want to share this DB with friends I guess they just click the "Download DB" option but what happens if a few of us go out and find/enter new stations/commodities into the DB? Does it update the remote DB for eveyone who's connected automatically? Plus what happens if say, 2 of us are entering new information at the same time? is that even possible when connected to a remote FTP or is the FTP option just a way to download someone else's DB to use/edit offline?

Up-/downloads automatically, when you press the SAVE button. In the case, you described, the user with the lowest bandwidth overwrites the database, so his data are present. More users increases the chance of a click of two users saving at the same time, so the FTP option is generally usable to a max. of 4-5 users.

1.39b8 - Database Issues

I upgraded from 1.37 to 1.39b8.

During the upgrade, I had to use the full installer. The full installer overwrote my old database.

I restored the 1.37 \DB\... folder on top of 1.39b8 \DB\... folder

tce.xlsm generated a lot of DEBUG errors.

I re-installed 1.39 + 1.39b8 to make DEBUG errors stop.

Now I am missing all of my STATION and COMMODITY data.

How can I import 1.37 mdb contents into 1.39b8? The IMPORT DATABASE is missing from the Option form.

Hoping someone can assist, is there a way to set the landing pad size to Large for the "Auto Destination" results so that everytime you land it will only show a trade run to a starport that you can land at. Just bought a clipper and it's still trying to send me to small outposts with the auto destination. I know you can set the landing pad size for the Trade Scout and was hoping for some setting somewhere that i'm missing.

Really enjoying the price display on the locked Trade Route !

and Everything is still working perfectly so far !!! :D

I do not think there is such an option as of yet.

I don't know why it has not bugged me.
I guess I've been mostly in a large ship since I last re-started my db.

I know it's not exactly what you are looking for
but looking at the trade panel is one click to open and one to close.
With the pics of the station, it makes it clear very fast if you can land or not.

This feature would be a very nice addition thought !

Small tweak needed, if possible.

When running a locked Trade Route,
sometime looking at missions... I need to use the TRADE panel, FIND COMMODITY
To actually see one of the station in that search result, I have to click on it.
(to know if it is and outpost or a large station I can actually land on :) )
Doing so changes the destination in my "LOCKED" TRADE ROUTE.
and, in my opinion, it should not, otherwise it is not really Locked, is it ?

Actually It is visual only because I kept going in the same route without unlocking it and
as soon as I jumped in at the next trade point, the position and destination went back to normal.

Still, would be nice if it didn't change or if it went back to displaying the actual locked route on
- Pressing the CLEAR button of the TRADE panel search box
or
- on exiting the TRADE panel.

I guess if you added Crimewave's request of a large only selection box
it would (kind of) take care of this one too,
because then I would have no real reason to click on the station in the search result.

Please use the Mark Large Station checkbox at the Destination Panel for now to select the station manually. Automatic selection will come with the Personal Logbook Panel, where you can select your current ship.

@Modified the Mark Large Station checkbox for the next update, so if checked, Auto-Destination will choose only large stations.

Added the possiblility, to view your search results at the Trade panel, but not changing your destination, when in Trade Lock. Trade panel displays reset, when closing it.

Follow-up question on FTP

(New player/new TCE user.)

Really impressed with this tool so far. Cuts down on the time that I would spend manually doing this by hand in Excel. Thank you :)

I was playing around with the FTP functionality, and watched how the FTP traffic works. I'm not a SQL/VB programmer, so at the high level, how does the system work currently?

Player 1 gathers data, uploads DB to FTP (manually or by hitting Save)
Player 2 has data, TCE downloads the data automatically on load, or by manual download.

Does TCE merge the FTP database with the local DB, at which point Player 2 can upload his data plus what Player 1 added, or does TCE simply drop the existing DB and overwrite it with the FTP version?

Thanks!

FTP option is working as the following:

One player uploads his database to the FTP-Server manually for the start.
All others activate the FTP option and enter their login and download manually the database.
Now all sharing the same data. No more manual up- or downloads.
When pressing the SAVE button, TCE downloads the database from the FTP, modifies it and uploads it back. All done within some seconds.

Ah, ok. So the only case where you clobber other users' data should be if you happen to hit save close enough to each other that there is an overlap. Very nice.

Thanks!

Database Import

Eventure,

Can you re-enable the Database Import option?

I have a 1.37 database with all of my STATION and COMMODITY data that I need to get into 1.39.

I do not care if I lose the exploration data.

Hey, I just installed TCE, but it doesn't start ingame, it starts on the desktop (Which is hidden while I play the game). Is there any way to rectify this?

Thanks :)

Kind of strange that the installer is in German. I am not sure what it is asking for or what it did with the files. Maybe could there be something in another language? Is the program all German too?

not strange at all.
Eventure the fantastic programmer who has made this is German I think and lives in Germany..
but all the software is in English. just the installer in German.

There is no import function anymore in TCE. Therefor it will give a standalone Database Manager, that is not finished yet. You could upload your database and give me the link, so i can look, where the problem is with it.

Will change the installer to english for the next full version release. It asked you, where to install the files. You can use any location, except deep into the Elite Dangerous folder, because FDev deletes all files, when updating.
