New logbook looks great!

Quick question - I recently updated to 1.39f by just replacing the .exe file - is that right?

That depends from what version you are coming. Is it a pre-V1.39 you have to install the full-version before. Otherwise you can overwrite the existing file.

Hi Eventure,
how does TCE make screenshots for OCR? Does it use the screenshot functionality of the game?
I have a bug report from a TCE user with two monitors(ED runs on the left one). Apparently the screenshots seem to be of both screens which causes OCR to fail. EliteOCR does not know where to look for the market frame in such setup and I'm not sure how to solve the problem in an universal way.

The current version of TCE looks after the ED window (Elite - Dangerous (CLIENT)) and makes a screenshot of that window. TCE does not use the ingame F10 function of ED. If he is using a V1.39d+ version, tell him to test the V1.39a version of TCE. This version has a different approach of making a screenshot. He should post a note here, so I will care about him.

Getting back to Elite dangerous afte 2 months away. Was running a version of TCE think it was 1.24.
Is it possible to import that database into latest version? Living the look of the new logbook that's being beta tested.
Look forward to its release.

I read the first page and the last page...I saw some folks say this doesn't work with multi-monitors due to the program OCR not capturing the "correct" screen with the trade data.

I have a 3 screen set up with Nvidia surround that makes it one screen at 5760x1080. Assuming I can get ED to run in borderless window, will TCE/OCR work, or am I screwed before I start?

@ All !
If you haven't updated EliteOcr in a while, do so and run the Learning Wizard again,
I think you will be very presently surprised with the changes in EliteOCR.0.6.0.8 :)

2 Screens is usually no problem.
Somehow, adding a third one seemed to cause some for one of our member,
but he was running them as 3 separate screen, not as one large one.

What software do you to setup the extended monitor ?

If your resolution is high enough for EliteOcr to recognize the characters properly,
which it seems to be, It should work flawlessly.

The latest version of EliteOcr is a bit more work to setup then the previous ones,
but it is more flexible and should be great in your case.

Make sure that it works properly on it's own before you even install TCE will save you a lot of trouble shooting later on.
Take at least 4 or 5 different market screen shots before you start.

After you have installed it and gone through the setup wizard,
go into the Settings menu and run through the Learning Wizard.

Use Add Files to select all of your Screen Shots and press OCR to run through them,
using the Previous and Next under the white boxes until the end, Correcting any mistakes the OCR makes.
You can then press next at the bottom right corner and click "Add those images to user's training images"
This will create a list of your corrections. Finally, Perform training will teach EliteOcr to work better for your setup.
The process takes a while and seems to stop a couple of times, just let it run through.

That's it, now test it a few times, it should work flawlessly.

When that is the case, you are now ready to install TCE following the instructions on the 1st post and Yokai's guide for more details.
Don't forget to update you Excel and install the proper Access RunTime for your version !!!

Good luck !

Please check, what version it really is. Pre V1.36 databases are not compatible. See changelogs.

Today, i like to show you the second area of the new Personal Logbook: the Travel Logbook area.

LOG_Travel_Logbook.JPG

The old session Ship Logbook panel was replaced by this new, persistant Travel Logbook. It displays all entries of your travels, you have done with your ship and have some more possiblities. These are to add the selected logbook entry to your Stored Location area, for a later return, or you can select your activities done at the entry, which will be listed in the Activities area. In addition you can leave a note for the entry, if you find it necessary. What locations you can store and what activities you can do and log will be described in the next previews, that will come.

That's all for today, feel free to discuss or add a suggestion.

Eventure

This tab is looking good as well. I especially like the options for manipulating the data, if needed. Is the activity option for adding a manual line or for something else?

I know it would be hard for TCE to do it but it's a shame ED doesn't give distances from the star to the stations as that would be quite useful, i.e. to know how far you have traveled (or need to travel) to get to the station.

Hi Brag,

I gave it a shot and this is what I found (also in Elite OCR thread):

Based on my experience in 5760x1080 using nVidia surround with FOV at 68:

1. Head tracking can cause OCR to fail, no matter how you orient your view before hitting scan in TCE which I have set to use Elite OCR. Cover your IR sensors or don't use Track IR if/when you want to use OCR.

2. Somewhere between FOV of 60 and 70 causes OCR to fail in TCE. Screen shots will work with stand alone OCR regardless of FOV.

3. OCR will fail if using TCE/Elite OCR with some custom Panel/zoom/position settings.

Full story:

Elite OCR works fine when used alone. I installed it, trained it, then used screen shots to add data. All worked.

When I use TCE in OCR debug mode, it says "Image too small! Minimum market width required: 1065px, given: 934.

I'm in 5760x1080. I have FOV set to 68. I use Track IR, but when I go to click on "Start scan", I cover the sensors, so it defaults to looking straight ahead. I figure that will help the OCR.

I'm not sure if it's an OCR issue, or a TCE with OCR issue, or what. Any suggestions?

edit: I think it has something to do with the Panel/zoom/position settings in TCE. I can get the "given: #" to change by messing with those options, but have not found one that lets the OCR work.

edit2: Doesn't work when using head tracking (track IR). Also, setting FOV back to 60 allowed it to work. I guess screen shots worked with a FOV of 70 because the screen shot (F10) takes screenies at FOV of 60.

No clue, you got way more equipment then I do !
Frankly I'm a bit jealous !!

It might not help at all but this is the only idea that comes to me.

Isn't there an ED shortcut key to turn head tracking on and off
if you set you fov at the value you know works
and temporarily turn of head tracking this way, while you scan the market with TCE
It might just work ???

I answered already in the EliteOCR thread but here one more remark:
For everybody in this thread. Could you please explain everybody coming with OCR problems that FOV reduces the "resolution" (market size). Therefore it quickliy reaches the minimal size and EliteOCR will refuse to OCR it. In GUI it adds a delay on the add button, but in command line interface it's not possible. I'm going to ignore in the future all FOV related problems.

To make sure that people don't complain I will add BIG remarks in my OP and in EliteOCR Help.
@Eventure: Please mention it in the first post too.

Hi all

I have install this program using Microsoft's trial 2016 and have to say it's dam good although I don't use an ocr so have to input data I just

thanks..

standard for pausing trackir is F9, i think. i've mapped that to a button on my x55.
when landing, i toggle trackir off, the screen centers and ocr works fine. when leaving station menu, i toggle it back on
and everythings fine again.
using triple mon with same res., too. fov maxed ingame.
works like a charm.
