Abandoned [RELEASE] Trade Computer Extension

Hey, first of all -- damn mighty impressive use of a spreadsheet there, Eventure! ;) TCE is quite a thing, indeed! The incorporation of EliteOCR alone is just brilliant.

Now, I realise I probably won't win any popularity with my question here, but I was wondering if it could be at all possible to (optionally) incorporate trade data from sources such as EDDN (together with possibility of exporting it too)?

The reason I'm asking is pretty simple -- I've done quite a bit of OCR-scanning and trading before I decided to test TCE (and finally got a copy of Excel :p) and I really am discouraged to fill out MOUNDS of data, again. I would love to see an option to import external data into your app however, since it can all be modified with ease, for personal use, if need be.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, I HUGELY appreciate the work that must've went into creating TCE; I'm just looking to be a bit lazy, for a change... ;)

Obviously I am doing something wrong...ugh..
The headers hang at the top of my desktop but are not visual in game....Current Status "Waiting for Elite Dangerous - Please enter game"...
Any help would be greatly appreciated....I would really like to use this program....

Sounds like two things you need to do to fix this:
  1. Edit your AppConfig.xml located in Elite Dangerous\Products\FORC-FDEV-D-####\ folder.
    All you need to do is add VerboseLogging in the <Network> section near the bottom, so it looks somewhat like this:
    Code:
    <Network
       VerboseLogging="1"
       Port="0"
       upnpenabled="1"
       LogFile="netLog"
       DatestampLog="1"
       >
    </Network>
  2. Secondly, you need to set Elite to display as Fullscreen : Borderless; you can find that option in the Graphics settings menu

Hope that helped!

Hi,

Just thought I would post my experience with TCE recently for those having difficulties with it not working correctly with EliteOCR.

Managed to install TCE without any problems using the installer version, added TCE to trusted locations in the Trust Centre of Excel 2013 and for good measure I enabled macros. Loads up without a problem, however when I come to scan commodity prices at a (registered) station nothing appeared to be scanning in, the prices remained at zero and TCE was constantly requesting a update for the current station.

So what I did was enable the OCR debug window feature in the TCE control options and tried scanning again, and I noticed I was getting an error about EliteOCR requiring a minimum width of station commodities window which was a bit confusing.

It turns out that if you increase your ingame field of view (FOV) it has the effect for shrinking the size (width) of the graphical user interface (ie the commodities window). So I reduced the FOV in the game options and low and behold, EliteOCR started working and prices were now being grabbed from ingame. EliteOCR require a minimum width of commodities window when scanning in and is affected by FOV.

I am posting this here as I notice others have stated that scanning commodities does not appear to be working for them. Reduce your FOV and give it another try! Hope this helps.

From Eventure :

If you have added the verboselogging="1" entry yourself into the appconfig.xml, please remove it and start TCE again. Afterwards load ED and it should work.

Here a little step by step list for the "WAITING FOR ELITE DANGEROUS" message:

1. Check, if the detected paths for your AppConfig.xml file and the NetLogxxxxxxxxx.log file are correct.
2. Check the AppConfig.xml file, if there is the VerboseLogging="1" under NETWORK.
3. Start ED alone, till you are in game.
4. Exit ED and start TCE alone, without going into the game.
5. TCE should now display your last record position. Start ED now till you are in game.
6. Play ED.

Background:
The waiting message comes, if TCE can't find a position data in the NetLog file. Each start of ED creates a new NetLog file. So check after start ED, if a new file was created in the NetLog folder. If there is no new file with a date/time stamp, when started, it is the wrong folder.
TCE looks into the NetLog file to find "SYSTEM:" entries. That entries are only written into the log, if the VerboseLogging="1" was made at the AppConfig.xml file.

I will add this to the FAQs.

Rob

Just for clarification, the system was close to the reference star suggested by TCE

Thanks to make it clear.
My research on your problem shows, that the search of star system names ingame is not successful, if the star system have more than two spaces in its name.
I instruct TCE now to not take these star systems as a reference.

WOW! I guess I have a bug report, or search forums to see if it's been reported. I could swear it hasn't been an issue in the past, but I'm getting back to the game after finally getting a new stick.

Thank you for addressing this. The program is fantastic, and I've made lots of credits using it. Not to mention, it's just fun to log my travels.

So do I need to download the file again and install, or will that be in a future release?

Hi, Eventure.

Sometimes I am getting a run-time error '-2147221040 (800401d0)' when I am inserting coordinates for an unknown star system.

error.jpg

It's strange because most of the time it works perfectly.
Thanks for your help.

The change will come with next update.

Hi all,

the german translation is finished and ready to release, but i still looking for some users to help me in translating the language file of TCE into french and russian.

Hi Aventure,

First off, great mod. I've been using it extensively.

Is it save to remove all the UR stations from the database?

Sorry, Eventure ... :( I can't edit my post.

But you can update it? I haven't posted on Frontier forums before.

Of course, you can. Delete all entries from the Station_UR table of your TCE.mdb file, but not the table itself.
But TDM, the database manager, will add them with an update of TCE again. I will add a choice to TDM, to add the unregistered stations in the transfer or not with the next release.

Thanks for the answer. I was leaning that way but I was worried I'd break something. I did it before and somewhere my database went wonky.

I'm picking up a strange issue. Sitting in Eotienses Adams market, they sell Superconductors for 900CR below average but it doesn't show on the Exports window. Also, when I manually select a destination, in this case LP 940-115: May City, it doesn't show under the recommended trades, but when I do a Bidirectional Trade Scout, then it's there??

This is of course with a fresh database (not the wonky one)

Hi- I am trying to get the OCR to work inside TCE. I scan and it completes, but the data does not show in the window. I looked at the folder OCR_BMP and there is one screenshot there. I have the EliteOCR program copied to the TCE EliteOCR folder and the EliteOCR screenshot settings pointing to the OCR_BMP folder.
Any ideas of what i am doing wrong?
Thanks

Thanks, I'll check those things out. I did edit the FOV in settings file a while back. But the EliteOCR works fine outside of TCE. I reset to default just in case.
