Remove mouse steering

Let's face it. Only gankers and murder hobos use this because they can keep their recticle on the target with little difficulty.

And whoever heard of piloting a spaceship with a mouse?! Come on! That's just silly.

Use a joystick, controller, HOTAS, or keyboard. The mouse should only be for pointing.

It's a device that allows proportional control and which pretty much every desktop PC will have already as a piece of standard equipment. Flying anything with a keyboard is lame and anything else requires a player to have bought additional hardware.

Sure most serious games will already have at least one of the other options you mentioned but take a look around you - does this look like a game that's pitched at hardcore gamers, what with the fact that if you play in solo or private group it's practically impossible to lose a ship other than by stupidity/just not caring?

It's 15 years since Freelancer launched with mouse control only and no joystick option at all, on the basis that anybody could buy it, install it and play it without needing anything else. For every player willing to spend £50+ on a HOTAS or even a tenner on a cheap controller, there are probably 10 or more who are perfectly happy using the mouse. Not because they're gankers but because they just don't have any motivation to use anything else.

I was going to ignore this thread, but.....

It sums up so much about the attitude of players in this game.

I don't want easy opponents, I don't want a "snowflake" experience where no one gets offended

I don't care how good my opponent is, or what he uses, or how he does it (this includes she too) I don't give a flying frack.

I want danger, I want excitement, I want interactive gameplay with players, I hate elite anaconda bots that I can destroy in seconds in a pvp fit trader ship.


I want fun! I want gameplay, I don't want some cotton wool, safe space, safety zone, blanded out, we are all winners, craptoid experience.


Give me failing shields goddamit!

I used to work night shift at a call center, and, between calls, keyboard and mouse was the only way I could play on the laptop I carried.

While it may or may not be a tool for the people you mention, there are certainly other legitimate uses for this tool.

HOTAS goes hand in hand with ED. It makes sense. Mouse control does not. Does NASA or ESA or JAXA steer their ships with a keyboard and mouse?! Come on man! The only reason it's even able to be done in ED is that the game is in a sealed environment. In reality, it's suicide.

Hay Op are you going to complain to me because I use 2 Joysticks?

Saitek ST290 Pro and Saitek x52 pro? Would you consider that unfair also?
