Report issues using the Issue Tracker

As long as you have not reported the problem to the developer – the problem remains your problem. Once the developer has accepted the problem, - the problem becomes his problem. Therefore, the developer does everything to ensure that the problem does not become his problem.

I mentioned this in a post not too far above the one with this quote, but it's worth repeating because it's so screwed up: When the message about being unable to add your issue comes up, chances are it is completely bogus and your issue WAS added. Check the actual issue listing to make sure you have not ended up posting multiple instances because the bad programming punked you. 2. Rubberbanding / instancing issues (https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/4925)
3. Player journal "Loadout" event written after launching a player controlled fighter is invalid (https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/3591)

There are a couple more status.json related bugs that I know about that were submitted by members of EDCD (Elite Dangerous Community Developers... (https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/4291 | https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/4055)

As an aside, some other thoughts...

The current bug tracker is not well suited to issues affecting 3rd party devs (since these issues have little visibility with the wider community).
Requiring 10 commanders to confirm an issue before FDev will recognize it is not a reasonable standard (https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/8120), particularly if issues are time limited and can expire before they reach the threshold.
If the threshold is going to be 10 commanders then we need the ability in the bug tracker to recommend issues which are similar for moderator review / consolidation.

It is impossible for me to sign in to issue tracker. Just now I have entered my email address and password 20 times, but it never signs me in. The screen just pops back to the main page and I am not signed in. No error that the username or password is wrong. When I purposely enter a wrong username or password I get an error message.

In the past if I keep entering my username and password I would get in after 5 to 10 tries, but this morning it is not letting me in at all.

I have had this problem since the change to the new website for issue tracking. Just another thing Frontier never fixes. Just like the galaxy map issue with wide screens. This issue is years old and still not fixed, but issue tracker shows this issue as still being confirmed and just reported in April 2019. This is so unbelievably incompetent on Frontier's part!!!!!!!!!!

The issue tracker is utter rubbish. Nobody reads it, certainly not the devs, and even if by some miracle one of them does because they remember it's there, they certainly don't do anything about the posted bugs. This utterly ridiculous system of voting up bugs to be fixed is just pure laziness on behalf of FD, as they should be trying to fix as many bugs as possible, not deciding which ones to fix based on a few votes. Laughable

Well, you could look at it as though FDev have their fingers in their ears and are singing LALALALALALA... and this method of finding problems is helping them find fewer, the less bugs reported then the happier the investors are.

Mmmh, okay...

So, what's the best way of reporting issues? The official forum forwards to the issue tracker, and the steam forum is explicitely stated as not monitored by Frontier. So, how do they get their informations about bugs? Playing the game themself in their work breaks?

Steam Oauth login to the Issue Tracker is only supported if you have a Steam linked Frontier Store account. If not you should use the same login as for the Elite Dangerous launcher/Frontier Store. You can link your Frontier Store account to Steam as outlined in this FAQ. That will allow Steam Oauth login from that point forward but it's worth reading Will's pinned launcher topic to understand any repercussions of doing so.

As also layed out in Will's topic the login system changed for Steam users who purchased from April 15th onwards so I'm not personally sure how this affects them. I'd assume they have a linked Frontier Store account by default.
