Researching the broken pulse wave for mining. (PC)

This might be on the right track as the rocks have been glitching in and out for a while now while scanning. I would suggest testing the model and material levels specifically. Going to have a look at this myself tomorrow as well.

Greetings fellow commanders!
As currently known the pulse scanner seems to be broken and scans rocks behind the ship yet for others it still works.
The current theory that some people and myself have is that the pulse scanner is broken due to graphics, depending on which graphic settings you have it works.

Out of personal findings the pulse scanner does not work as intended for me while using the ultra settings for my graphics, but does work better when I lower to high graphics settings.
My fellow commanders (so far 4 others) have confirmed that they use high graphics or when lowered to high or lower graphic settings the pulse scanner works as intended.
With this post I would like to gather more informations.

  1. Core mining with pulse wave scanner
  2. Which grade of pulse wave is being used A-B-C-D...
  3. Which graphics setting being used
  4. confirmation of users using ULTRA settings that once lowering graphics the pulse wave works.
Many thanks for your co-operation in trying to confirm this theory.

ps. I know Fdev is aware of the issue, the point of the thread is not to confirm the issue, it is to confirm if lowering graphics works or not. I do appreciate the positive feedback so far/

Hey CMDR, I use high or lower and the scanner works for me.

Last time I tried the PWA it did not work. And yes my graphics are on Ultra. I'll adjust my settings to high or medium and try it out. Thx for that suggestion.

I watched one of the youtubers, use FA off, with the external camera to see the cores with the PWA, it looked like a PITA. Although I really should try and get some FA off practice.

Today I have mined some and did switch between low and ultra settings without any results.

The scanner worked most of the time, but I think I did saw several glitches when free looking around in the cockpit did make rocks to be highlighted suddenly on my ship's side. Interesting thing is (and this is what made me doubt my own observations) that after a rock is highlighted it will work as expected for the following pulses.

i fixed the bug for myself ... what i´ve done ?

Simple - check your moduleslot# (for me the PWA was on slot#1 on my Python). First put the PWA into module-storage and then put it back, but onto slot #2 !!!
Since i did this, the PWA is working like normal again. try it out by yourself ;-)

PS4 here,on Python putting it in the two middle utility slots it's bugged, putting it in the first and last works most of the times, tried only during an afternoon session so don't have more consistent data than that, could be random or could be the cure.(for Python of course,on other ships may work different)

I solved it by using different slots for the pw, 7th slot on the annaconda , 2nd last on the corvette and 2nd slot on the cutter. Fee people gave it a go and it works.
