Restarting game After Beta.

NOPE, to much grind for to little pay outs and rinse repeat shi$, maybe if we had the cargo missions back that payed good like before or skimmer missions that paid good maybe, but since they have nerfed every dang money making way to he!! im just letting my multi billions account collect dust.

To be honest I don't think credits would be an issue at all. While the payouts could be a fair bit smaller when you start out (I'm Trade Elite so the payouts I'm seeing, 5-6m 180t 1 jump missions regularly once you're allied with a faction, which you don't even need a Python for now, given you can make partial deliveries), plus if FDev keep the core mining payouts the way they currently are in beta, you can make millions per hour with an Adder pretty much from the get-go, once you outfitted it accordingly. Similarly for exploration, from what I've seen in the beta the payouts are a fair bit more generous but not sure if they will get another balance pass before it hits the live servers.

In fact I'd probably get annoyed with too high payouts in the beginning, making me skip ships more than when I started in 2014.

The issue as I mentioned before is the pilot federation & military rank grinds, and the engineers incl some of the guardian stuff. I'd probably lose the will to live if I had to do all that again.

I don't know which game you play but my recent new career has been an breeze so far money wise compared to my first CMDR. After an admittedly slow start, as soon as you can afford the T-6 things accelerate rapidly. Transport missions are still the way to go, the T-6 can already earn you 5 million Cr/h in an appropriate system as soon as you've improved your standing with the local factions. Afterwards it's just about upgrading to bigger cargo ships if money's all you're after, when my main CMDR needs some cash I break out the T-9 or Cutter and make some 30 MCr/h no problem, sometimes way more. Or I load some tourists into the Orca for at least 20 MCr/h. If you count gold rushes like Smeaton as normal gameplay that's peanuts of course, but it's anything but "little pay outs".

Id wait to see what impact one mission board does on superpower rep before doing that.. probably is okay but just in case. The inverse challenge could be to hit admiral / king before the patch :)

I've tried it a few times and it doesn't really work anymore.. you're never really small in the universe. To get the same effect you have to pretend that the 2 million plus sidewinder possible missions don't exist.. which is fine until you actually get into some trouble and it suddenly makes less sense and you just go about your business. If you can pretend that anyway you don't need to delete your save. Its the same amount of pretending that those missions don't exist to not sell a stored module somewhere....

Not for this update, no.

I've done a reset once and I actually liked the experience.
This was quite a while ago though and I don't know, whether or not I could "pull the trigger" again soon.
What I really would like, is the ability to purchase a second commander slot (yes, I know, this "idea" is far from new) and start from scratch with this one - while keeping access to all the paint-jobs and ship-kits I already paid way too many Euros on.

The one point where I will consider a restart will be, when (if) we can walk in and explore our ships.
I would like to experience the whole ship progression one ship after the other instead of just casually hopping into my existing ships and "run" through them in order to see their interiors.

I'd like a second account that has access to my main's paint and kit, and I could use that one for more violent or throwaway-style gameplay. On the main tho, no way. It's the same dood from 2014 Mercenary-era Beta and even the mythical Atmospheric Legs wouldn't be enough draw for me to start from scratch.

This is exactly what i'll do as soon as 3.3 is released.
Two years of gameplay and exploration elite, but I really want the feeling of a brand new game, with all of brand new stuff.

What is the best moment you have in this game?
The first second you seat in your new sidewinder in LHS 3447 and you think "Oh gosh! And now?"

You're all nutters. Rank grinds, permit grinds, engineer grinds are not fun. They're tedious, repetitive tasks that offer little to no engagement and don't really serve any purpose.

You want faster normal-space drives do you?

You're going to have to grind Sirius Corp until you're allied, then randomly board hop (that's cheating, apparently) to find missions that pay out modular terminals, then play the jump-scoop-repeat loading screen game for two hours each way to prove that you've been 5Kly from the bubble, and then you get back from your expedition only to be told that you have to go and wander around hunting for crashed thargoids to gather unknown fragments. That was tedious but at least some of that is vaguely lore-relevant.

What isn't even pretending to be anything other than a pointless time-sink that serves no purpose whatsoever is making half a dozen return trips across the bubble because the stockists of brandy, cigars, ale, or tea can only sell you five units unless you jettison those five units, at which point they conveniently happen to have some more in stock.

Also, your payouts are going to suck without your combat/trade/exploration rank. Not that money's really a problem these days....

After 1400 hours, triple elite, king and admiral, i don't think i could bring myself to delete my save. too much effort has gonna into my character. I'm too emotionally attached [haha].

And theres no way im buying a second account, multiple saves should have been a thing from the beginning.

Agreed. I've paid FDev enough in cosmetics to buy two extra copies but the fact that multiple saves aren't in the game is inexcusably lame; I refuse to buy a second account on principle.
