Rift CV1 2015 Released Date Inadvertantly Released???

Kyokushin you are wrong in about everything you say.

You tried a "mobile" VR solution, if it was the Oculus mobile solution you had a good impression of resolution and it should not have been a "bad experience".
However, every mobile solution completely lacks the position checking.
You basically had a DK1 experience (last generation) with high res screen.

In addition, what is your IPD ? If your IPD is more than 2-3mm off from 64.5mm or your eyes are too asymmetrical then you need a hardware modification to get proper 3d vision.

The "wow" does not come from resolution or image quality. If you did not feel a wow you had a bad experience (see above).
Wow comes from the brain being tricked to be somewhere else, you obviously did not feel that so something was wrong.
VR was never about image quality and for the next 5 years the quality of a screen will always be far superior to VR.
VR is about brain manipulation.
QFT.

Having tried non-positional tracking VR and the DK2, if you aren't in a DK2 or better you aren't qualified to talk about VR.

Even with the resolution and SDE of the DK2, flying around, docking, and all of that in the type-6 with it's MASSIVE forward cockpit is phenominal.

The first time I tried it with the DK2 I spent a solid 30 minutes just looking around and admiring the view from within the cockpit.. Not even exaggerating that statement. I was in awe of the size of the cockpit, which is something you cannot properly experience without full 3D AND head tracking that lets you lean and look around things.

I did the same thing when i got into my T9. The lakon ships were just awesome for the Rift. I loved the fact that i could lean forward and look down out of the cockpit.

As a DK1 backer I have to ask. What makes you so qualified to dismiss the very group that gave rise to your DK2 experience as unqualified?

The DK2's only short fall is the Lens themselves. The resolution is fine for today's standards. There is no GPU out there today that could drive a 2k 3D system at 90hz. The problem with DK2 is lens lens and lens.. the blur is horrendous and you can't adjust the width of the lens, so if you have wide eyes.. you are outta luck. The sweet spot is small. Most DK2 vets have trained themselves to look straight at the object. From hardware stand point I would give the DK2 around 85% Thumbs up. I would say that a CV1 would not be released until there is a Nvidia/AMD card capable for driving the hardware.

I would go so far to say that if you are a hardcore PC gamer you "must" own a DK2. At $370 it cost a alittle more than a fancy motherboard. But you can't match the experience.
