Rookie Mistakes

Tinkering with my Anaconda's load out at a planetary port, not long after getting it, and then taking off without checking the power load.

Thrust up into the sky - engage FSD - power drops and loads of modules go off line. So busy trying to get the FSD going again, that I miss the fact the thrusters are offline too, and I'm accelerating - posterior first towards the ground - by the time I work it out I'm staring at the rebuy screen.

I sometime imagine the ship sticking out of the ground on the planet like a monolith - a monument to my stupidity!
The Starfighter was said to land like a nail in the ground.

Playing the game with an Xbox controller & tapping "B" when what I wanted to do was drop the landing gear... (hold "B" + tap down)

the back end of the station approaches really quickly when that happens...
I had the same experience when I remapped my HOTAS then came back from a 2 week vacation. Hooo-boy.

A few years later, my nephew remapped my HOTAS as a joke and my landing gear was now deploy weapons. Pew pew pew... ker-BLAMMO! to the peals of laughter coming from my lil nephew.

Rookie mistake?
Getting to play ED in the first place. Such a time sink
Stopping to play Elite Dangerous is very easy. I already managed this about a 100 times, since 2020.
(Original quote from WC Fields, not Mark Twain, by the way </knowitall>).

To be on topic again:
A variant of the forgot the limpets:
Loaded the cargo full of limpets (haha, yes!), arrived at my target.
Just to find out that I had replaced the limpet controller with a fuel tank to reach the previous station.
