Route Plotter is TRASH

so... they are officially rescued... and now i try to plot a route HOME. NOPE, failed at 22%. Looks like a step by step retracing... AGAIN!!! WHATS THE POINT OF EXPLORERS, if their data cant be USED???

I like the idea of using explorer route data in the route plotter for those hard to reach outer limits, but whether you can reach it again or not could depend on whether your fuel tanks are empty or not, so it’s probably impractical. Still, I feel your pain, having been there myself.

If you disagree with him it's only because you don't have the variety of experience he does. Never mind that he couldn't possibly know your experience, at the end of the day, your disagreement could only be because of ignorance. There is no other explanation. OP can't possibly be wrong, or doing something wrong, no, it's everyone else who's wrong.

My take: OP, you're probably doing it wrong. Or the route you're taking is in an area where the stars are very sparse and the route itself has extreme deviations that the route plotter doesn't like and wasn't designed for. I've been 65,000ly and back without an issue, and the new 20kly one is even better at finding wide deviations that the old 1000ly one couldn't handle. If you would care to make a video showing us exactly what the problem is that you're having, maybe we could explain whatever it is you're struggling with. Alas, the very vague OP you left us with doesn't go into anywhere near enough detail to diagnose an issue. It really is little more than a low-effort shiptoast.

i believe its just the area... but the griping was from it not being able to return me via my own route

The route plotter, honestly, is pretty good now, compared ot how it used ot be, but I'd still give my Anaconda to be able to manually plot routes - or at least waypoints.

Route plotting is not working at all. Failing at 27% for anything over a 1000LY and around 68% for 200-500LY. Its continuous throughout the day and misc over the past couple days as I only started some long range routing today. Its also not allowing cancellation of the failure where you have to select something closer to origin and create a temp route. Logging out and back in along with blasting off into supercruise from a planet surface does nothing. 458LY route failed at 80%. Rerouting a temp course of 10LY took 30 seconds to plot.

I tried several long 10K-20K route plots today.

Most failed in a 20LY jump ship.

All succeeded in a 50LY jump ship.

Your route is taking you thru a region your ship can't handle would be my guess.
