Route plotting in 2.4

A quick test I did yesterday showing route plotting times
Route plotted from Jameson to a System 19,999 lys away towards Sagittarius A*

Filter A

star class O, B, A, F, G, K, M, Carbon, Wolf-Rayet, Non Sequence Stars

Filter B

star class O, B, F, G, K, M, Carbon, Wolf-Rayet, Non Sequence Stars

It appears to be much slower plotting from six thousand out to Sagittarius A*

The beta change log states that route plotting will now be out to 20,000LY!!!!!

That is awesome...

and

• route plotting is much faster
• there is now an option to make use of neutron star boost when plotting routes
• an icon is displayed on the route to show the last scoopable star before running out of fuel

There is also a grey dashed line to indicate your previously plotted/travelled path.

Line colors indicate the boosted jumps. Filters do apply so if you have only OBAFGKM on, you won't have any neutron/white dwarf jumps in the mix.

It is very nice.

Also, the gal map is working again. You can click a tag or star and it will go to that tag or star not somewhere way in the background like it does now.

How does the boost jump plotting work? Can it string several NS jumps together in a plot? Or J3 jumps?

I've not had chance to play the beta yet. :(

I only used it once last night but it strung together two white dwarf jumps.

Not sure it is clever enough to jump you back to a scoopable (or filter) star if you will be low on fuel. Keep watch on that as you go and pay heed to the last scoopable icon.

The NS plotting idea is excellent. It means definitive, efficient and more importantly personalised NS 'bridge routes can be plotted on the Gal Map. Can't wait to give it a try. On the Ferry back from Le Havre to Portsmouth drinking a rather nice red in sea state 6 at the moment.

It appears to be!

A 20K route from the Bubble towards Sag A* took about 12 seconds to plot.

AFMU still repairs the canopy. I assume the limpets are for repairing other ships, not your own.

Heat sinks can now be manufactured via synthesis but they require manufactured mats (eg basic conductors), not mats which can be collected on an exploration mission.

True though you can always bring a lot of those materials instead of multiple heatsinks to get a bit more jump range.

The Repair Rats. I love it!

At the moment I can only bear doing 500 LYs at a time before I lose the will to live and log off for a week or two. So its going to be a while before I get him closer to the bubble and get a repair rat out to fix him. :)

What jump range do you have?

That's normal, the more possible routes the more calculations have to be made.
