Sad bug with lightning of multiple stars

... and it is tinted pink...
just close to stars or in combination with landable objects with thin atmosheres... star lightning is broken on non atmospheric planets an non landable planets if the star is more in distance... .you can see this by changing the tint of light in the cockpit either...

I see you're still not engaging good faith.
No, of course I'm not, it is a trait learned in this very forum from some who are unable to accept this is just a space game, and demand whatever they perceive as reality, you know that, our paths have crossed enough times in the past over unrealistic perceptions on what a game should present.

When the new lighting model was introduced, a few complained it was "unrealistic" and too dark...
...now a few complain it is "unrealistic" and too bright!

Me, I just play a game that is fun, and remember that, yes, it is just a game that doesn't pretend to be any more than that.

ETA: Even Frontier are not presenting ED as any more than just a game, after all:

Elite Dangerous is the definitive massively multiplayer space epic, bringing gaming’s original open world adventure to the modern generation with a connected galaxy, evolving narrative and the entirety of the Milky Way re-created at its full galactic proportions.

Starting with only a small starship and a few credits, players do whatever it takes to earn the skill, knowledge, wealth and power to survive in a futuristic cutthroat galaxy and to stand among the ranks of the iconic Elite. In an age of galactic superpowers and interstellar war, every player’s story influences the unique connected gaming experience and handcrafted evolving narrative. Governments fall, battles are lost and won, and humanity’s frontier is reshaped, all by players’ actions.

Horizons Season Now Included!

Experience a whole new angle on the galaxy with the Horizons season, now included in Elite Dangerous. Journey from the stars to the surfaces of strange worlds, hit the ground running in the Scarab Surface Recon Vehicle, craft weapons, deploy ship-launched fighters and experience exhilarating multicrew co-op action.

A Galaxy Of Wonders

The 400 billion star systems of the Milky Way are the stage for Elite Dangerous' open-ended gameplay. The real stars, planets, moons, asteroid fields and black holes of our own galaxy are built to their true epic proportions in the largest designed playspace in videogame history.

That's really superficial. Digging deeper the new lighting is displaying more unintended consequences and / or bugs introduced with odd that were never fixed. I highly doubt they consciously turned down the detail and quantity of stars in the background skybox.. because they didn't (see the gamma slider), they're just being erased by some component of the new graphics.

No i don't believe for a moment they went "elite is too bright, lets make it dark with odd to appease sterner forum goers" ever was part of it.

Not really - are you going to tell me that isn't exactly what occured?

Good, as that isn't what I wrote, was it?

I wasn't thinking about you again, even though i like you and think you mean well.

The point was to suggest a substrate from which frontier bashing on the issue might have come about.

Ie, excusing and praising anyone for what is most likely an accident or defect.. just no!

I don't know if anyone has noticed that there has been a steady improvement of lighting and shadows as the updates have been published? Hopefully they'll get there someday :)

I wouldn't know, i only stepped up graphics cards for update 14. Have they really stated its all to be left as is to focus on first person shooter content, or is there still a chance they could sneak in progress in more space related features? I guess i missed all the labor pains for 2 years of odd.

Frontier traditionally has no respect for "cosmetic" defects no matter how experience breaking they are for players, but they also make changes seemingly at random sometimes, so don't have a guess even.

IME, there are myriads of small bug fixes each update that don't appear in the patch notes. Though I have to admit that there are generally new bugs too! :D

I'm not aware of any official statement that all that's left is to focus on first person shooter content, not quite sure where you picked that one up..

Currently in position #15 of most-voted-for issues:

All the distant white dots of planets are in the correct positions at the instant you jump into a system but are attached to the skybox, so as you move in SuperCruise they drift away from their proper positions. Once you get within 2-3 ls of the parent body the skybox dot will disappear shortly after the physical model pops in. It’s been broken for just over a year now 😕

Hi. What are the chances of this getting fixed in update 15. Thanks.

It’s been borked for over a year now and was functioning correctly prior to U11.

Along with the reports in the Odyssey VR issue thread - that is swiftly approaching its second anniversary - I’ve given up hope of seeing fixes and have resigned myself to (hopefully) being surprised by the patch notes 😅

It used to work in odd? Didn't know that, only started on in update 14.

From my tally, zero chance. There's still bugs in legacy they introduced in unrelated features that were never fixed. "Cosmetic" of course. From that same observation, its also clear when it will be fixed, the next time frontier make major changes, or the functionality is replaced as part of some greater design refactor (like the one to be investigated at the end of the year). I wish frontier would prove me wrong even just out of spite to forum goers.

I started less than a year ago - so my first impressions of this game had this bug in it and it confused me why I couldn't see planets at all when traveling FTL (besides the circle marker), then I noticed the weird lights in the skybox that didn't match the orbit lines and jumped around and figured out it was a bug on my own. It really foiled the space travel experience for me since it was a crack through the curtains of how the game works. I preferred playing orbit lines turned off, but not having the planets appear to be where they really are forced me to play with them on to try and ignore it, but even then you'll see light dots derping off in the skybox.

What is even more annoying though how unknown this bug remained, it was at the point where you try to report it and people argue with you because they think it's intended and "oh of course you can't see planets from that far away duh" or some other weird mental gymnastics. The chances of it being fixed seem higher than before at least, but just a few days ago was the 1 year anniversary which is mind boggling since literally everyone who plays the game on the 4.0 code base experiences this bug that ruins the space visuals in a game about space.

I think the specific detail in U11 that broke this was something to do with an optimization with planets do less "work" when in the distance. I suppose they weren't wrong.

Yep, we have invisible and/or dancing planets in SC (in a space game!) for over a year now… Players know about it, FDev knows about it and yet here we are still.

Saddest part for me is the total lack of communication about this or any other issue plaguing ED.

At work right now... Can I assume this blatantly immersion breaking bug that everyone experiences still isn't fixed since there was no mention in the notes?
