I finally made it. I took off for Sagittarius A* at around t he end of January. I got as far as the half way point and then certain real life factorys prevented me from flying anymore until recently. Last night on the 28th of May 3301 I finally completed my journey. The feeling of achievement as I jumped into the system was only enhanced by the group of commanders who were hanging out there. They welcomed me with the kind of warmth I havent felt since I left the home systems all those months ago.galacticcenter.jpg

Good to see nice people far away from home!
Greetings!

Made it last night after a 15hr 22min Buckyball run.

Just a couple of quick screenshots (I wrote a lot more over in the Buckyball thread).

been there.. don't remember exactly when but I can tell you there's a bigass blue star about 60k LS away. Would've taken a pic but i don't know how in the oculus and i guess it hadn't dawned on me at the time to relog and take a regular screen shot..oh well:eek:

Gets very hot near this supermassive black hole.. couldn't really do my usual black hole dance :) ahh well :) nice sight though, glad i made the trip all this way. Will take a trip back via the great annihilator I think.

Rather than bore you with the 631 individual screenshots that I took during my Buckyball run to Sagittarius A* last Thursday, I've strung them all together into a short film which I've entitled "26,000 light years in 5 minutes".

I made it there right now at 31.05.3301.

Sooo, initially I did not plan on making this trip, but as I got closer and closer while just exploring I just thought to myself "Aww balls to it, I'm gonna do it!". It feels kinda overdone and not that special anymore since so many people have been there now. But a lot of people have climbed Mount Everest, and why does people still do that? Because it's there. And similarly with climbing Mount Everest, going to Sagittarius A* does require a lot of dedication and determination. I also wanted to do it just so I can say I did it. I already visited Great Annihilator on the way to SagA* so I'll probably hang around the neutron star fields for a bit before heading home. o7

Just arrived, disappointed at the lack of a souvenir stand or cafe. Nevertheless, go and add me to the ever growing list of Sag A* tourists. :)

It has just struck me that today it will be 6 months - indeed, exactly 26 weeks - since I first arrived here. (I remember the day well. It was a Monday. Lunchtime, in fact.)

A lot has changed since then...
